There are a lot of expectations for the second season of Netflix's The Witcher, chief among them are popular characters making their first appearances in the show. There aren't a lot of details on what viewers can expect quite yet, but it has been confirmed that two new witchers will be joining the cast, one of which is a foul-mouthed favorite from the games.
In the world of Netflix's The Witcher, the show's namesakes aren't very prevalent. That is about to change, however. For the second season of the show, Coen, a witcher from Poviss, will be make his debut. He will be played by Yasen Atour, who has appeared in shows like Dark Heart and Strike Back. Coen spent some time at Kaer Morhen, a familiar location expected to be a part of the show's upcoming season, and where audiences will likely be introduced to the character.
Next up is Lambert, who will be played by Paul Bullion, an actor who can be seen in Peaky Blinders and Agatha Raisin. Lambert is also from the witcher School of the Wolf, like Geralt. He's rude and ill-tempered, but in an endearing, often humorous way that has captured the hearts of audiences. We have seen hilarious moments in The Witcher already, but Lambert will surely contribute his own in the second season. Here's hoping his dialogue is as biting as we expect it to be.
In addition to new cast members, we know Sarah O'Gorman and Ed Bazalgette, who has worked on Doctor Who, will be directing along with Stephen Surjik. Various filming locations have also been disclosed. But outside of details on production, audiences don't know for sure what to expect from the second season. The trickle of information should start flowing more regularly now that season 2 has started filming early. Fans shouldn't expect this to mean the show will premiere earlier, however.
Until it does make its debut, many are relying on social media to provide hints -- especially through the accounts of actors from the show, such as Henry Cavill and Freya Allan, both of which have shared glimpses of upcoming content in the past. Many are monitoring them closely to see what they post.
The Witcher season 2 premieres in 2021.
