After years of waiting, fans of The Witcher franchise finally have a big budget adaptation. The Netflix series had some mixed reviews at first, but seems to be a hit with most critics and audiences over all. Geralt of Rivia and his allies and enemies are suddenly more popular than ever and have become memes, reaction gifs, and a whole lot more.
Although season one just dropped a few weeks ago, fans are already finding creative ways to spend their time waiting for more episodes of The Witcher. One superfan showed off their own editing skills by cutting a 90s television show style alternative intro for the show with VHS tracking lines and all.
The intro, which was uploaded to YouTube by Jason Dewey, and includes all the flare and style of 90s intros that will likely remind some readers of Xena and the other action fantasy shows of the era. The stylish video offers a short introduction for each of the main characters (including fan-favorite Yennefer).
The video's creator admitted that he was inspired by the recent 1990s take on the Game of Thrones intro. It may seem hard for older readers to believe that the 90 media is already dated enough to have a distinctly different style, but there's no denying it. As more viewers are introduced to The Wither through the Netflix series, we look forward to seeing other Witcher memes pop up in the coming weeks.
The Witcher season two is scheduled to begin filming soon, so fans will likely learn more about what is next for Geralt and company in the near future. Be sure to check back for updates and, until then, don't forget to toss a coin to your Witcher.
The Witcher television series can be streamed now on Netflix, and The Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt can be played on PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
