Fan speculation is rife about what the next iteration of the Witcher franchise will look like, and one fan has taken matters into their own hands by creating an incredible menu design concept. The next-gen version of The Witcher 3 brought plenty of quality-of-life fixes to the game, but the menu was pretty much untouched, and some clearly feel that route was a mistake that should be rectified in the sequel.

The Witcher franchise has had a very strong few years. Developer CD Projekt Red recently released the next-gen upgrade for The Witcher 3, bringing the classic RPG up to date with modern visuals and even some new content. While there were some issues with its performance, it was still a strong addition to the Witcher catalog. Alongside the success of The Witcher on Netflix, it seems the franchise has captured the attention of mainstream audiences. It will be interesting to see how The Witcher recasting Henry Cavill affects its reputation going forward.

The incredible menu design for The Witcher 4 was shown off by Redditor Pufacosplay, posting on behalf of their husband. The design is simple, but still manages to display everything The Witcher 3's menu does in a much cleaner way. It even puts the character central, building the UI elements around the character. This would make character customization in The Witcher 4 literally more central to the experience. It's not an enormous redesign, which is why it's so strong - it keeps the spirit of the menus from the past while making strong iterations of their weaker elements.

Some in the thread compared it to the newer Assassin's Creed inventories, and it makes sense. The newer titles in Ubisoft's flagship franchise took heavy inspiration from Witcher games as it looked to make a move into the RPG space. It would be interesting to see The Witcher 4 return the favor, showing appreciation for the advances Assassin's Creed made using the CD Projekt Red formula.

It was perhaps surprising to many when it was announced that CD Projekt Red was returning to the Witcher franchise. There was a feeling after the third game that it was done, with Cyberpunk 2077 heralding a new era for the developer. Perhaps the early Cyberpunk 2077 reception led the company to a swift rethink, even if the game was a huge financial success. It is easy to forget that The Witcher 3 was first released back in 2015, so the games have been in somewhat of a hiatus. As such, maybe the timing is perfect for the series to make a huge return.

A new Witcher game is in development.
