The Wicked movie streaming release date for Peacock was officially announced. Unfortunately for some, it won't be available on the streamer before the 2025 Oscars ceremony.

Rumor: Friday the 13th Series May Have Cast A Key Character

The Friday the 13th Prequels TV series for Peacock may have cast a fan-favorite actress to play an important character in the horror franchise.

When Will Wicked Be Available on Peacock?

NBCUniversal announced Wicked will be available to stream exclusively on Peacock starting Friday, March 21, 2025. The Peacock streaming release will include the Wicked sing-along version and additional bonus content. Among the extra material highlights are the NBC special titled Defying Gravity: The Curtain Rises on Wicked, a behind-the-scenes look aptly titled "Making Wicked," two podcast episodes featuring Wicked director Jon M. Chu and director of photography Alice Brooks, and multiple deleted and extended scenes.

Where Can I Watch Wicked?

As mentioned, Wicked already received an early digital release on December 31, 2024. However, renting Wicked on a digital platform such as Prime Video or Apple costs roughly $19.99 US while purchasing a digital copy was approximately $30 US. The film can also be purchased on DVD, Blu-Ray, or 4K Ultra HD for roughly $24-$30. Peacock will stream Wicked at no additional cost to subscribers, and newcomers can choose between Premium ($7.99 US a month with ads) and Premium Plus ($13.99 US a month with no ads and download access for certain titles) monthly subscription plans. It should be noted that Peacock is currently only available in the United States and its territories.

Unfortunately for some, the Wicked Peacock release date arrives nearly 3 weeks after the 2025 Academy Awards ceremony. Some cinephiles make it a point to watch as many Oscar nominees as possible ahead of the ceremony, particularly the Best Picture contenders, of which Wicked is one of 10. Peacock arguably offered the most affordable way to watch Wicked, but those hoping to watch the film for the first time before the Oscars must choose between the more costly digital or physical copy options. Of course, Wicked is still playing in many theaters, where an epic musical fantasy film is perhaps worth the extra cost of admission.

Still, the Peacock release will be welcomed news for those waiting for the endlessly quotable Wicked to hit streaming. While most diehard Wicked fans have already seen the film, in some instances on more than one occasion, another viewing option gives more people the opportunity to watch the celebrated film, which should give everyone a reason to rejoicify.

Wicked will be available to stream on Peacock on March 21, 2025, and is currently available to purchase on digital platforms.
