From the high-stakes clash between Mahoraga and Sukuna to the chaotic duel between Toji and Gojo, Gege Akutami has consistently delivered battles that are both visually spectacular and emotionally charged. Even Sukuna versus Gojo (despite its controversial conclusion), left an indelible mark on the fandom. Yet, among all these memorable encounters, one anticipated showdown never saw the light of day: Hakari versus Uraume.
Both Hakari and Uraume are formidable fighters with distinct abilities, and their inevitable clash had fans buzzing with excitement. After over 30+ chapters of buildup, expectations were sky-high for what could have been another iconic fight in the series.
But in a surprising move, Gege chose to skip the battle entirely, breaking the hearts of a huge portion of the fandom. Instead, the story jumps straight to the aftermath of the fight with Sukuna. What stung worse was a brief scene showing Uraume fading away — implied to be due to Sukuna’s defeat, not Hakari’s doing. Hakari’s Complex Domain and Uraume’s Untapped Power
Hakari versus Uraume was hyped for several key factors, chief among them being the sheer complexity and power of Hakari's Domain Expansion. Hakari's domain is easily one of the most convoluted and, arguably, broken abilities in Jujutsu Kaisen. His domain functions like a jackpot system, turning the battle into a gamble where each spin can give him infinite cursed energy regeneration, making him virtually unstoppable for a limited time. It's an ability so intricate and over-powered that fans were eager to see it put to the ultimate test against a high-caliber opponent like Uraume.
On the other hand, Uraume has long been teased as one of the strongest characters in the series. As Sukuna's only known subordinate, Uraume’s strength was always implied to be on a different level than most. However, despite numerous appearances, we never truly saw Uraume engage in a proper one-on-one fight. Hakari versus Uraume was supposed to be that moment — a chance to witness Uraume’s raw power and skill set, and how it would stack up against the unpredictable chaos of Hakari’s Domain.
With Hakari’s flashy fighting style and Uraume’s stoic, no-nonsense demeanor, the contrast in their personalities alone would have made this fight an entertaining showdown (maybe even better than Hakari vs. Kashimo).

Jujutsu Kaisen's ending feels very rushed. There are still two chapters left until the very end, but the way Sukuna vs. Yuji was handled felt... Underwhelming. Sure, it made sense narratively, but there was a lingering sense that more could have been explored, especially when it came to fan-favorite characters and their unresolved storylines. One glaring example of this is the off-screened Hakari vs. Uraume fight, a missed opportunity that could have added depth to both characters — and to the story at large.
Why did Gege choose to rush this fight? The answer might be Hakari’s Cursed Technique (CT). Hakari’s domain was described, in simple terms, as a gamble where he rolls the dice, and if lucky, gains infinite reverse cursed energy (RCT), making him nearly invincible. But, for some reason, Gege Akutami over-complicated the execution. The explanation for Hakari’s domain spanned multiple pages, and its convoluted mechanics likely made it a headache to choreograph in battle. Writing out another detailed sequence featuring Hakari’s domain — especially in the final chapters — might have detracted from the main event: Sukuna’s last stand. Every little detail of Hakari’s domain would need careful scripting, and this might have been too much of a distraction as the series headed toward its end.

A Missed Opportunity to Develop Uraume and Showcase Hakari’s True Potential
While focusing on Sukuna made sense, leaving Hakari and Uraume's confrontation completely unattended was a huge letdown. For one, Uraume’s character never received the development it deserved. Uraume has largely been reduced to a “background ice NPC on Team Sukuna,” with little agency or action to solidify their place in the story. This battle could have been the moment to flesh out Uraume, giving the character a chance to shine and elevate their role and explaining why they deserve ti be Sukuna’s sole subordinate. Without it, Uraume feels largely irrelevant, and fans are left wondering why they were introduced as a formidable figure in the first place.
For Hakari, this fight was an opportunity to prove himself in a way he hasn’t yet had a chance to. Gojo claimed that Hakari could one day reach his level of strength, praising him alongside Yuta as one of the few truly exceptional sorcerers in the new generation. Yuta even believes Hakari might be stronger than him. But while Hakari’s previous battles showcased his strength, his domain made victory feel almost too easy. It was entertaining, sure, but not the kind of hard-fought, earned win that would cement his status as Gojo’s potential successor. A true clash with Uraume, someone who could push him to his limits, would have been the perfect stage for Hakari to earn that recognition.
