Vitality is one of the core combat resources available to players in Where Winds Meet. One would expect that Vitality would refer to health or stamina in this game just like in other RPGs, but such is not the case — instead, it's used as a driver for Mystic Skills, enabling a ton of utility options and DPS rotations. It's a fairly simple stat, but Where Winds Meet doesn't exactly tell players what Vitality is or how you get more of it. In this guide, we'll be covering both of those to help you get a better grasp of how combat and skills work.

How Does Vitality Work in Where Winds Meet?
Vitality is a combat resource that's used to cast Mystic Skills in Where Winds Meet. In-game, your current Vitality level is indicated by the segmented ring in between your equipped Mystic Skills on the left side of your screen. Every time you use a skill that requires Vitality, that ring will deplete, and to get more Vitality, you need to attack, block, or deflect enemies.
Puzzle skills like Celestial Seize and Meridian Touch have no Vitality costs, but everything else does. If you don't meet the Vitality cost of a skill, then you won't be able to cast them. This is usually the case for players who get Blinding Mist or Honking Havoc early.
How to Increase Vitality in Where Winds Meet
If you want to get more Vitality for strong Mystic Skills, you'll need to unlock Vitality nodes from the Melodies of Peace passive trees in Where Winds Meet. You can do so by collecting Oddities, special collectibles that you can find all across the world. In Qianghe, Oddities include:
- Dagger General
- Ironwing Mantis
- Enchanting Lotus
- Redmist Beetle
- Whisper Hive
When you find any of these critters and curiosities, go to Qi Sheng just east of the General's Shrine Boundary Stone, and he'll unlock some new passives for you. The Melodies of Peace passives include a wide variety of stuff, from basic stat bonus to Vitality upgrades, Inner Arts tomes, and even movement abilities.
Qi Sheng's Melodies of Peace tree only goes so far, and even if you unlock all of the nodes there, you likely won't have enough to use the more costly Mystic Skills. To get more, you need to reach Kaifeng in Where Winds Meet and finish the quest Oddity: Melody Hunt. You can find this just west of the Wayfarer in the Granary of Plenty. Speak with Bai Ji, an acquaintance of Qi Sheng, and finish his quest. You'll then need to collect Oddities all over again to unlock more Vitality nodes.
