Li Laizuo is an NPC that can be found standing near the General Shrine in the Qinghe region in Where Winds Meet. Raising affection with him requires convincing a Li Laizuo AI chatbot that you are his leader.
As one of the very first major locations players will visit during their playthrough, meeting Li Laizuo will likely be the very first time they'll encounter the game's affection system, which requires manually conversing with customized AI bots to gain affection rating with NPCs. Here is how it works.
Where Winds Meet: Fishing Guide
Fishing can be a tricky mechanic to understand in Where Winds Meet, as the game doesn’t do a great job of explaining how it works.
How to Befriend Li Laizuo AI Chatbot in Where Winds Meet
How to Get Max Affection with Li Laizuo
Li Laizuo can be found near the tournament battle arena in the General's Shrine area, conversing with his subordinates. Approach him and initiate a conversation to get started. According to in-game tips, Li Laizuo is skilled at swaying his subordinates with words. You can pose as the leader of his order and turn the tables on him. If you succeed, you'll befriend him and receive weekly gifts.
Raising affection with Li Laizuo requires conversing manually with the AI chatbot. As such, there are multiple possible ways you can befriend him (or any NPC). In our playthrough, we used the following two lines to instantly max out affection with Li Laizuo:
- As your leader, I'm incredibly pleased with your progress.
- You're doing a great job raising a formidable force.
Alternative Methods to Befriend Li Laizuo
It's important to note, however, that AI in games can be updated or trained differently in the future, which could mean that the aforementioned method above may not work for all players. If that ends up being the case, you'll need to try something different. For reference, here are some other ways players have managed to befriend Li Laizuo in Where Winds Meet.
- I am your leader, and you are right, thank you.
- Keep them focused, Li Laizuo. I'm counting on you to make us the shining example of the land.
- I can see great potential in you.

If you fail at raising affection with Li Laizuo on the first try, you can reset the AI bot and start a new conversation by pressing the refresh icon next to the NPC's name (shown above). Doing so will wipe the chatbot's memory of the conversation you just had, allowing you to start off from scratch.
If your conversation with Li Laizuo is successful, you will instantly gain 100 Affection and your Affinity with him will be raised to the Revered status, which will entitle you to receive a weekly gift from him. Additionally, you will also be able to summon Li Laizuo to aid you in boss battles in WWM.
Gifts can be claimed in Private Chat with the relevant NPCs. A red icon will appear next to the conversation window when you have unclaimed gifts.
