Where To Watch Every Despicable Me Movie

Universal and Illumination Studios have finally dropped the trailer for Despicable Me 4, due for release in theaters in 2024. With a new villain and a new baby in the mix, it looks like former supervillain Gru has his hands full in this most recent installment of the Despicable Me franchise.

The buzz over the Despicable Me 4 trailer has fans of the family comedy excited about the continuing adventures of Gru, the former supervillain who gave up his evil ways to start a family. Although there is no exact date yet for the new movie's theatrical release, lovers of the Despicable Me movies will surely want to get caught up with the franchise before the film comes out. Here are all the ways to watch all five of the Despicable Me movies at home.

Despicable Me (2010)

The film that started it all, Despicable Me introduces Gru, a supervillain with great aspirations and even greater ambition. While planning the ultimate heist to steal the moon with the help of his evil minions, Gru comes up against some unexpected competition from a rival villain named Vector. Gru then meets three orphan sisters - Agnes, Edith, and Margot - and hatches a plan to use them for his nefarious purposes. Unexpectedly, Gru finds himself caring for the youngsters and puts aside his wicked ways to become a father instead.

Despicable Me 2 (2013)

This sequel revisits Gru and his new family, now a father with three adopted daughters. Gru has retired from the supervillain life but is pulled back in when he meets Agent Lucy Wilde of the Anti-Villain League. Lucy convinces Gru to help the AVL track down El Macho, an evil supervillain who has stolen a very dangerous mutagen chemical. Together, Gru, Lucy, and the three girls go undercover to track down El Macho and recover the powerful PX-41 mutagen. Meanwhile, romance is in the air not only for Gru and Lucy but also for Gru's eldest daughter, Margot.

Minions (2015)

With their hilarious antics and adorable gibberish, the Minions of the Despicable Me movies are irrefutably the most beloved characters of the franchise. In 2013, a prequel simply titled Minions revealed the origin story of these quirky yellow oddities. In the late 1960s, Minions Kevin, Stuart, and Bob begin a quest to find a worthy supervillain whom they can serve. It's an extravaganza of flower power and a wild British Invasion in this laugh-out-loud prequel, as the Minions get into all sorts of wild adventures before meeting their villainous leader, Gru.

Despicable Me 3 (2017)

In Despicable Me 3, newly recruited AVL agent Gru goes up against his toughest opponent yet - a former '80s-child-star-turned-villain, Balthazar Bratt. A real smooth criminal, Bratt has stolen a priceless diamond, and it's up to Gru and his new bride, Lucy, to take it back. Things only get crazier when Gru discovers that he has a long-lost twin brother, Dru. It seems that Dru has his own dream of becoming a supervillain, and wants Gru's help to make it happen.

Minions: The Rise of Gru (2022)

The sequel to Minions and prequel to Despicable Me, Minions: The Rise of Gru tells the story of 11-year-old Gru who hopes to join the infamous Vicious 6 supervillain group. When Gru lands himself in trouble after stealing from the 6, the Minions rush to his rescue. Along the way, they meet a kung fu master, Chow, and former Vicious 6 leader, Wild Knuckles. Knuckles becomes Gru's mentor and teaches him all there is to know about being a supervillain, including appreciating the loyalty of true friends.

The Cheapest Ways To Stream All The Despicable Me Movies

The most inexpensive way to watch all the Despicable Me movies depends on how one chooses to view them. Unfortunately, no one streaming service has all the films. Three titles are available on Peacock, including Despicable Me, Despicable Me 2, and Minions: The Rise of Gru. Peacock offers a monthly subscription cost of $11.99 without ads or $5.99 with ads. Those looking to stream Minions can find it on Netflix, which offers $15.50 per month for zero ads or $6.99 with ads.
