Cronos: The New Dawn does a great job of making the environments horrifying and unsettling. With every area being dark and dimly lit, players will often have to explore corners and rooms in constant fear of getting ambushed by the grotesque creatures that require multiple charged shots to defeat.
The game features multiple locked doors and gates that might require a specific key or code for access. Unlocking them can take time and isn't always clearly laid out, which can be confusing at times. Players who are confused as to where they can find the Shelter Key in Cronos: The New Dawn can check out the guide below.
Cronos: The New Dawn Review
Cronos: The New Dawn checks most of the survival-horror boxes, but is held back by clunky combat and an underwhelming narrative.
Where To Find the Shelter Key in Cronos: The New Dawn
Soon after your first boss encounter, players will have to interact with the Dive Point to reach Edward's apartment, where a note inside a locked safe will tell them about the Shelter. As you make your way down the apartment and exit through the front doors, you will come across a totally different landscape, which has snow falling everywhere and intact buildings. Once you go down to the fountain to your left, you will find the door of the Shelter.
From the Shelter door, turn around and go to the right of the Hardware Store, where you can follow the path and will soon find a cat that goes toward the alleyway on your right. Follow the cat and head down the stairs leading to the underground section of an apartment. To your right is a door leading to a room filled with a bunch of files, and to your left is a door locked by chains that you can open using the Boltcutter. Inside, you will find a valuable item and more resources.
Valuable items can be sold at any Workstation to get Energy, which is necessary for weapon upgrades.
Head down another staircase, which leads to a metal container that you can lift up and go to the other side. It is here that an enemy will burst out of unit 94, and after dealing with it, interact with the item inside unit 94. You will acquire the Shelter Key, and soon after collecting it, more enemies will spawn. If you are low on ammunition and health, you can try to make a run for the metal container and push it to reach the other side, avoiding this encounter.
Once you go back outside, you can now open the door to the left, which leads to a playground where Karol, the cat, can be found. After interacting with this feline creature, head back to the Shelter door and unlock it to progress the story.
