In Space Marine 2, the Assault class is all about getting into the enemy's face and tearing it off. This becomes much easier said than done once players tackle harder difficulty modes, but with the right build, no challenge is insurmountable.
With the agility of the Vanguard and the raw power of the Bulwark in Space Marine 2, the Assault class can be devastating in the hands of the right player. For those who want to make the most of what this class has to offer, here's a high-level setup using the Assault's best weapons and perks.

Space Marine 2 Best Assault Class Perks
Many of the Assault's perks help players get more out of their melee attacks, Gun Strikes and Jump Pack uses. Since this class is all about diving into the thick of things, the following selection of perks should help players dish out maximum punishment while still allowing for good survivability via effects that restore armor in Space Marine 2.

Commitment |
A perfectly timed Jump Pack Dash dodge restores Jump Pack's ability charge |
The Assault class innately has a 50% longer Perfect Dodge window compared to other classes. This build takes advantage of that by improving Gun Strike (which can be triggered after a Perfect Dodge) and allowing perfect dodges with Jump Pack Dash to instantly restore a Jump Pack charge.
Assault Weapons Of Choice
For this build, we'll be using the Heavy Bolt Pistol and Thunder Hammer. The former is great for chipping health off of big targets like Tyranid Warriors, while the latter is an excellent all-around melee weapon against all targets.
Thunder Hammer
It's up to the player to choose what type of Thunder Hammer they want to use. Apart from having different offensive stats, each hammer version also uses different defensive styles in Space Marine 2. We strongly recommend a Fencing weapon when using this Assault marine build, as Gun Strikes play a large role in keeping the player alive while dealing significant damage to enemies as well.
As for perks, make sure to at least get Fast Preparation. It increases your melee damage after killing a Majoris enemy or higher. This perk is very helpful when dealing with Tyranid Warrior broods on high difficulty modes.
Sidearm
Both Bolt Pistol variants are good, but since this build focuses on dealing with Majoris enemies and higher, the Heavy Bolt Pistol is the better option. It deals more damage per shot, and with enough headshots, it can stagger a Majoris enemy when it is calling for reinforcements. The Heavy Bolt Pistol isn't as good against swarms, but your Thunder Hammer will help you take care of smaller enemies.
For perks, simply go with increased damage and magazine capacity whenever you can. Perks can be reset at any time. If you feel like your current setup isn't working, feel free to swap things around.
