Thanks to the Guerrilla Collective showcase, many indie developers were able to show off amazing new gameplay and reveal trailers for the very first time. It also gave many studios the opportunity to announce release dates for titles that have been in development for a long time, as well as games like Disco Elysium that are now available on new platforms. One highly anticipated indie title by publisher Raw Fury, West of Dead, was finally given a confirmed release date, and players won't have to wait long.
West of Dead is an upcoming twin-stick shooter that was announced back at X019. The game takes place in Purgatory, Wyoming in 1888, where players will take on the role of William Mason, a dead bounty hunter voiced by Ron Perlman. With an art style that is very reminiscent of the Hellboy comic books, Perlman's voice seems to add a tremendous amount to the gameplay experience.
Since its open beta back in November of 2019, there has been a lot of speculation as to when players can expect to own the full game. During the Guerrilla Collective showcase, it was announced that West of Dead will be available on Steam, GOG, and Xbox One on June 18. It was also mentioned that the game will be available on the Xbox Game Pass on that date as well.
Players on PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch will have to wait a little longer than those on Steam and Xbox One. It was also announced that West of Dead will be coming to PS4 and Switch on August 5. Those players will just have to keep playing Hotline Miami if they want to get their stylish shooter fix.
Raw Fury seemed to have a very impressive showing during the first day of the Guerrilla Collective showcase. In addition to West of Dead, the publisher also released info about Night Call coming to Xbox One and Switch, GONNER2, as well as a tactical roguelite called Star Renegades. The publisher is also teasing another unannounced title on its website that will be revealed in the coming days through the showcase. It looks like players have a lot to look forward to this year in the realm of indie gaming.
West of Dead will be released on June 18 on Steam and Xbox One, and August 5 on PS4 and Switch.
