During the Bounty Hunters Journey in Weird West, players will receive instruction to question Mayor Weeks at Galen's Crossing. This questioning will ultimately lead fans to the nearby Brush Creek Farm, where they will need to make a choice. That choice is between acquiring the deed to the farm or searching Mayor Weeks' basement, and this guide will help Weird West players that are interested in pursuing the latter of these two options.

Weird West: Search Mayor Weeks' Basement

Before players enter Mayor Weeks' basement, it is recommended that they get their hands on a Cell Key. Fans can find such a key in a Night Stand on the second floor of the building where Weeks was initially spoken to, and here is an easy way to access it:

  • Walk around the exterior wall of Galen's Crossing to get behind Weeks' residence.
  • A small building interrupts the exterior wall at this position, and players should get onto its roof, using a barrel if they do not have the High Jumper perk in Weird West.
  • Jump from this roof to reach the balcony of Weeks' residence, and pass through the door to enter a bedroom.
  • The Night Stand with the Cell Key is between the bed and a door in this room.

With the Cell Key in hand, players should leave the residence and make their way to the building next door, which has several green barriers and barrels on its roof. There is a small room in one corner of this building, and there is a trap door that leads to Weeks' basement in that room. The position of the relevant room can be seen in the following image, and fans will need to use stealth in Weird West to pass by the NPCs that patrol near its entrance.

Now that a player has reached Weeks' basement, they can use the key that they obtained from the residence to unlock the cell that is in the corner. This action will trigger a dialogue, wherein fans can learn more about Alonso and Mayor Weeks. As soon as this conversation reaches its conclusion, immersive sim fans will find that the "search Mayor Weeks' basement for evidence of corruption" objective has been replaced with a new task, and they can now continue advance the Bounty Hunters Journey.

For those players that are curious, obtaining the deed to Brush Creek Farm will lead to a similar conclusion, though it will result in a Reputation decrease. It is possible to get the deed without actually killing anyone at the farm, though, which may make this option more appealing to indie game fans that prefer to avoid murder. This approach begins by performing a non-lethal takedown on an NPC that patrols the farm and obtaining the Barn Key, and it concludes with opening a Safe.

Weird West is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
