Summary

  • Wednesday season 2 premieres in two parts on Netflix, with new characters played by Lady Gaga and Steve Buscemi.
  • Haley Joel Osment plays a serial killer named the Kansas City Scalper in season 2, causing concerns
  • The season 2 storyline focusing on a stalker could be overshadowed by Osment's role in the show.

After the great news that Wednesday season 2 will premiere on Netflix in two parts on August 6th and September 3rd, 2025, fans had one more question: which characters are the new cast members playing? I was excited to watch the first six minutes of the new season that was shared at the Netflix Tudum 2025 event on May 31st, and fans also learned that Lady Gaga is playing a teacher at Nevermore called Rosaline Rotwood. I'm also looking forward to seeing Steve Buscemi become part of Wednesday Addams's (Jenna Ortega) dark and intense world.

Haley Joel Osment's character was also revealed, and as a long-time horror fan who appreciates his performance in the classic The Sixth Sense, I had high hopes for this role. However, after finding out who Osment is playing, I have one main concern: what if his storyline takes center stage and overshadows another plotline?

Haley Joel Osment Is Playing The Wednesday Season 2 Villain, But Could This Ruin The Stalker Storyline?

1-1
Wednesday S2

The first six minutes of Wednesday season 2 reveal that Haley Joel Osment is playing a serial killer named the Kansas City Scalper. In the clip, Wednesday is playing with some truly creepy dolls, and she showcases her typical dark and offbeat Addams Family humor when she says:

“I’m tied up in a serial killer’s basement. Who said nightmares don’t come true?”

While I'm excited to see Osment play a villain, I'm nervous that his storyline will take precedence over the storyline about Wednesday Addams's stalker. This plotline was teased at the end of Wednesday season 1 and I was looking forward to finding out more. When Wednesday leaves Nevermore Academy for a while, she gets a mysterious text message from someone who has been watching her. I assumed that the stalker would be the main villain of the second season, but now it looks like Wednesday will be investigating the Kansas City Scalper.

I think Wednesday season 2 is taking the right approach by leaning into horror, and it's fun to imagine the new episodes being inspired by Tim Burton's dark Sleepy Hollow. However, I still think the stalker should be a big part of the new episodes, and I'm worried that they will only get a little screen time. I like the idea of someone knowing Wednesday's every move and trying to mess with her because I think it will make season 2 even more dramatic and exciting.

I would be happy if the Kansas City Scalper was somehow connected to Wednesday's stalker, and it would be interesting to see these two storylines come together. Maybe the stalker is gathering information on Wednesday and her classmates at Nevermore for the serial killer and that will be revealed partway through the season. Otherwise, I'm wondering why the stalker was hinted at in the Wednesday season 1 finale.

While Wednesday season 2 is focusing on the Addams Family, the new characters have to feel like they fit seamlessly into the dark and sarcastic story. I'm still interested in seeing how Wednesday defeats Osment's character, and I'm hopeful that the stalker's identity will be revealed by the season 2 finale.
