  • Experimenting with new skills and weapon choices can enhance gameplay variety.
  • Solo playthroughs, flawless runs, and character combos offer unique challenges and experiences.

After a long and emotional journey, players will be itching for more Expedition 33, even if they have cleared the world of all the evil that lies in the farthest corners. A full playthrough of the game is an adventure for the ages, but sometimes a second go around can elevate the experience to new heights.

Playing the same game all over again can get quite boring, as seeing the same bosses and enemies and taking them out in the exact same way isn't the most exciting way to relive the game. However, there are quite a few major ways that players can change up the gameplay, allowing them to re-enter a familiar world with a few differences, whilst maintaining all the same joy and excitement as their first run.

Clair Obscur Expedition 33: 7 Things That Would Be Perfect For DLC

There are several things that fans would love to see incorporated in an Expedition 33 DLC, like the entries listed below.

7 Turn Up The Difficulty

Time For Something A Little Harder

Expedition 33 is anything but a cakewalk. Many of the later bosses provide a sizable challenge that can be tricky for even the best gamers out there. But if that first playthrough wasn't testing enough, raising the difficulty a tier is a great way to make the combat feel more rewarding, whilst keeping everything else intact.

The difficulty levels feel reasonable and fair, and if the harder enemies are proving too much, players can always swap back to a lower tier to get past the hurdle and swap back afterwards. It really does level up the challenge overall, and considering that some side bosses can take dozens of attempts to get right, having an extra level on top is a great way to add an extra goal after the game ends.

6 Experiment With New Skills

The Build Variety Is Incredible

The game limits the player somewhat by restricting their skill choices to just six at a time. This means that the rest of the options are either used far less or never, as the player figures out what works best for them. By finishing the game for the first time, the pressure gets lifted and the experimentation can begin, as those weaker but still fun spells can finally come out and show their power.

While there are plenty of Lumina points to go around, some characters should be prioritized in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33.

There are also quite a few ways of changing up the builds when it comes to the entire set of combinations. For instance, a lot of spells work off of the player's weapon and the element attached to it. So, if the player has a fire element weapon, then they can switch to a void type and play around with new Picto sets that work specifically for that new element type. This can have some effective and hilarious results.

5 Go Solo Only

Now Here's A Real Challenge

If the game wasn't hard enough, then how about playing through the entire game as a single character? By the time the credits roll, the player is probably pretty geared up and high level, able to take on pretty much anything that gets thrown their way. But removing the extra two party members that the player might have relied on can make for an interesting challenge run that requires a lot of patience and careful decision-making.

Certain characters like Maelle can be fairly self-sufficient. She can carry entire fights with her damage output, not needing a lot of assistance to do so. But when there is nothing to fall back on, the difficulty level skyrockets. As there are quite a few options to choose from, players could go in solo as Lune for one playthrough and then swap to Verso for the next, adding a lot more replay value.

4 Try Out Different Weapons

Some Practically Change The Entire Character

Much in the same way that Pictos alter builds, the weapon selection process can be an important factor in deciding the outcome of a fight, both for the element chosen and the innate traits that each armament brings. Some allow the character to start the fight in a specific way, while others offer more simplistic but still useful buffs. All of the options feel distinct and offer a unique playstyle upon every new acquisition.

Normally, the player might find a specific weapon or a few weapons that they like or consider to be powerful, and they end up using them for the entire playthrough. But with a long list to choose from, it is hard not to be tempted to make a bold choice the next time round. To add replay value, players can go for something that offers a different approach that they would have never thought to pick at first.

3 Try A Speed Run

Race To The Finish

No video game would be complete without a comprehensive breakdown that takes the form of a speedrun. With Bugs that enable long-distance travel and game-breaking attacks that can execute anything in their path, Expedition 33 has a lot of room for optimization. There are plenty of categories that players can choose from that each offer a different speedy alternative.

Once the player has experienced all that there is in terms of lore and story, they should have no problem jumping through cutscenes and skipping ahead to get running across the landscape, in order to clear the game as fast as possible. And because of all the build variety and the number of methods available, it will be a long time before a definitive route or strategy is fully cemented.

2 Flawless

No Margin For Error

If there is one challenge that stands above the rest in video games, it is the no-hit run. There are a few options when it comes to this caliber of difficulty: no death, which speaks for itself, and true no-hit, which resets the game any time damage is taken. Both are great options for a second run through, and the latter is by far the hardest challenge that the game has to offer.

It is one thing to even clear some of the bosses on the hardest difficulty, but to do so without taking a single point of damage is a title reserved for only the very best at dodging. The race to claim the title is on, and even when someone finally achieves it, there is no doubt that there will be more challenges to come after.

1 Character Combos

Give Everyone Some Love

Clair Obscur, Avowed, The Outer Worlds three-party system

There are five main party members in the squad, only three of which can be used at the same time. This means that for much of the playthrough, unless the player is intentionally swapping between characters regularly, quite a few of the cast will be sitting in the wings waiting for their opportunity to join the fight. It is a great idea to go through each character and experiment with their skillsets and see what kinds of possibilities are begging to be unlocked.

It can take some time to fully grasp the level of depth that this game affords. Each character comes with a decent list of customization options in terms of their gameplay, and each one works better and worse with the other members of the party. One minute, Maelle can be a tank to protect Sciel; the next, Lune can become the carry. The options are diverse and the fun is unlimited.
