Victor Saltzpyre from Warhammer: Vermintide 2 was an Inquisitor or Witch Hunter, and it's safe to say he was bad at inquisiting, or whatever his job was. Because if his kind had been more inquisitive, then they likely would have unveiled the literal giant rats under the Empire's cities and prevented the Vermintide.
But it's no use crying over spilled milk. The players as Victor can merely make amends — usually by killing the said giant rats and their Chaos hosts in Warhammer: Vermintide 2. Thankfully, Victor hasn't lost most of his edge and his arsenal. Among his witch-hunting tools, these weapons are the most effective at ratting out heretics.
8 Rapier
Players who picked Victor are luckier than the rest because this Witch Hunter already comes equipped with some of his best gear as soon as the first level. Victor's Rapier comes with a special pistol that's great for penetrating armor, making him good against elites.
Meanwhile, the Rapier's normal attacks are also good when dealing with multiple enemies and hordes. The only downside of this weapon is the poor block and narrow block angle, though that's easily circumvented using the generous dodge counter.
7 Axe And Falchion
Players who toiled through the Ubersreik DLC for Victor will be well-rewarded with the Axe and Falchion. While it might not be as versatile as the Rapier and the other weapons, the Axe and Falchion excel in taking down elites or heavily-armored foes.
Such is Victor's specialization, it seems. The fast attacks also work great against multiple enemies here and the block cost is more manageable compared to most dual weapons. Players will need to purchase a DLC for this one, sadly.
6 Greatsword
Like Markus Kruber, Victor also gets access to the Greatsword, though he does so a bit later on. Still, this is one of Victor's most synergistic weapons due to the wide push angle, allowing him to dish out some reliable amounts of crowd control so that other teammates can clean up the horde.
As with Markus' Greatswords, however, Victor's Greatsword also comes with the same disadvantage, which is the slow swing speed. Players might find themselves getting outgunned by their teammates with faster weapons. Still, those with enough patience will find this weapon ideal for Victor.
5 Flail
The Flail can be a polarizing weapon for many Victor players since it initially appears to be inaccurate. However, players only need to practice some more with this weapon so they can truly see its potential. The Flail is one of the best crowd-control tools for Victor.
There's also the fact that it's excellent against shielded enemies. The wide sweeps also mean players don't need to worry too much about aiming once they've gotten used to the swing timing. Still, don't expect any stellar damage from this one, as it's mostly a horde weapon.
4 Bill Hook
The Bill Hook is another polarizing weapon merely due to the fact that its primary light attack animation performs poorly against hordes. But there's a way to circumvent this. Players will just have to shove their enemies and then follow up with two light swings.
Forget about the Light Attack chain, the above method is more optimal. If done right and consistently, the Bill Hook easily becomes a versatile weapon capable of dealing with hordes and armored elites alike. And despite the narrow block angle, the added melee range keeps players relatively safe.
3 Crossbow
The Crossbow is a great pairing for a melee weapon that focuses on horde enemies or crowd control. This ranged tool mostly focuses on granting players the advantage of killing armored enemies and elites from afar. The bolts will piece the initial target and continue on to the enemy behind them.
It's a great method for taking out any potential and looming threat on the horizon before they can even do damage to the party. Sure enough, this weapon isn't ideal for dealing with lots of enemies. The low ammo count and the rather slow firing rate reinforces that fact.
2 Volley Crossbow
If players want a ranged weapon that shifts its focus to multiple enemies, then the Volley Crossbow is a more apt tool for the job. It's practically the shotgun equivalent of a crossbow, meaning it will decimate multiple enemies at close to medium ranges.
That makes it great against hordes of small targets. Consequently, it's not good against armored enemies or bosses. Players will need another tool for that. And the low ammunition count also means players can't spam the shots and arrows too much.
1 Brace Of Pistols
Again, players don't need to grind too much if they want one of the best ranged weapons for Victor in Vermintide 2. He already has it as early as Level 1 in the form of the Brace of Pistols. These are practically a belt of single-use pistols that Victor discards after use, firing one after the other.
Players can thus hold the secondary fire mode where Victor will unleash a quick succession of lead balls on a target, though don't expect all of them to hit. As for the damage, this weapon is good against just about any enemy, from fodder horde minions to elite Warhammer bosses.
Warhammer Vermintide 2 is available now for PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
