Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 is getting a major content drop on June 26 with the arrival of the Siege Mode update, announced during the Warhammer Skulls Showcase stream. Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 is the sequel to the 2011 cult classic Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine, offering unrelenting third-person action set in Games Workshop's grimdark sci-fi universe.
The Space Marine series centers on the genetically enhanced super-soldiers of the Imperium, known as Space Marines, as they battle against heretics and invaders across threatened planetary systems. Space Marine 2 continues the story of Lieutenant Titus and his comrades through various battlefields against the Tyranid swarm and Chaos forces. The game offers a single-player and co-op campaign experience with online multiplayer modes.

The anticipated update for Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, announced at the Warhammer Skulls Showcase stream, introduced a new co-op PvE mode and two cosmetic DLC packs. This is one of the game's largest post-launch updates and will be made available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. All players get the update at no additional cost, with the Siege Mode also accessible early on June 4 via the Public Test Server on Steam.
Siege Mode Brings More Intense Tyranid Slaughter For Free
The new Siege Mode places players in a battle for survival in the jungle world of Kadaku. The Siege Mode will feature a three-player cooperative experience similar to Space Marine 2's current modes. In the new mode, the squad of Space Marines fights against endless waves of Tyranid and Chaos enemies in defense of an Imperial fortress. According to the trailer, players can expect hordes of Tyranids, ranging from puny Termagants to towering monsters. It also revealed the presence of Space Marine Dreadnoughts, equipped with Assault Cannons and Power Fists, although it is unclear whether they are operable.
The Warhammer Skulls Festival offered other great news for Space Marine 2 fans, too. Patch 8, which includes the Siege update, brings two new cosmetic packs for Space Marine 2 players who own either the Ultra Edition or Gold Edition, and those with the Season Pass. Firstly, the White Scars Chapter Pack adds a new Assault class Champion skin, weapon skins inspired by the chapter, and exclusive heraldry for its Successor Chapters. The other, the Blood Angels Cosmetic Pack, includes a variety of new armor customizations and heraldry markings.
The unveiling of the Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 update came alongside other Warhammer-related news in the Warhammer Skulls Showcase. This included the Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun 2 announcement, the world premiere of the remastered Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine, known as the Master Crafted Edition, and much more.
