Potential spoilers ahead for Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2

6 Carnifex

The Tyranid’s Tank-like Brute That Charges and Shoots Acid

ultramarines fighting a carnifex

The Carnifex is devastating, and its hide can deflect even the nastiest of Bolter bullets. It’s a beast that has boundless rage, and its horrific roar will make all Ultramarines steel themselves as they prepare for a violent confrontation that can only end in one way: death. The attack methods of the Carnifex are extremely aggressive and without parry, so players must dodge out of the way and avoid its rampaging slashes and attempts at shooting bile.

The Carnifex is a rather simple fight to the advantage of players, as Ultramarines just have to continuously shoot at it with their ranged weapons and throw a few grenades to get it weak enough to execute. The Carnifex is deadly, but it’s just a larger bullet sponge, where the only real threat is running out of ammo; even then players can just beat it senseless with a Chainsword.

5 Helbrute

Flesh and Steel Curse This Hulking Chaos Dreadnought

A mockery of the Ultramarine’s prideful Dreadnoughts, the Helbrute comes in as Chaos’s own version of it, albeit twisted with flesh and metal entwined to be a cursed monster of rage. The Helbrute can be encountered in Chaos-focused Operations and on Demerium. The Helbrute charges through the battlefield with a crushing hammer and a gun attached to its right arm that shoots violent plasma.

Space Marine 2: Best Classes For Operations, Ranked

Players are going to want to bring the best Ultramarines for the job in Space Marine 2's Operations to dominate the PvE content with ease.

1

The Helbrute’s main method of attack is to charge at players with its crushing hammer, attempting to unleash heavy blows and combos. If players are too far from their rage, then they will unleash the fury from the cannon of their right arm. Its imposing size and teleporting abilities make for an intense fight, one that’s hard to withstand among other Chaos forces.

4 Heldrake

The Daemon Engine of Chaos That Engulfs the Ground Below in Flame

ultramarine faces down a heldrake

A winged Daemon with the speed and fury of a comet, the Heldrake is found specifically as the final boss for the Reliquary Operation. Players will always come against a Heldrake that has boundless fury. Throughout the mission and in the build-up to confront the Heldrake, it will swoop down and engulf the ground in flame, forcing players to retreat and hide from the fires until they die down, or otherwise be granted death.

When fighting the Heldrake itself, it doesn’t move from its post, but players will have a constant army of Chaos soldiers spawning in, all whilst they try and activate machines to make the Heldrake vulnerable to attack. If that wasn’t chaotic enough, the Heldrake periodically sets fire to the arena, forcing players again to retreat and find cover or else die almost instantly.

3 Neurothrope

A Deadly and Devastating Assortment of Cries and Psychic Blasts

neurothrope

When a Neurothrope enters the arena, players are in for a difficult time. This great monstrosity strengthens swarms, and the fact that it remains in the air means that players are going to have to keep their attention focused above ground, allowing for Tyranids to lash out at their feet whilst they are distracted by the greater threat above. Plus, if players run out of ammo, they have to rely on the Neurothrope grounding itself.

There are over 30 Chapters represented in Space Marine 2, allowing players to immerse themselves in Warhammer 40K's customization options.

Neurothropes hold in the air, firing deadly beams that can easily one shot on harder difficulties and providing deadly orbs that track. On the ground, the Neurothrope might be more vulnerable to melee damage, but players must evade it through their psychic waves and penetrating cry to even attempt to hurt it.

2 Hive Tyrant

The Hive Swarm’s Battle Commander With Almost Unlimited Power

hive tyrant

Ultramarines are tasked with slaying a Hive Tyrant in the Decapitation Operation, and it’s not going to go down without a fight. The Hive Tyrant is essential to the Tyranid swarm, and their connection to the Hive Tyrant grants them all rage and battle prowess. As such, fighting the Hive Tyrant will come along with waves of Tyranids that attempt to defend their monstrous battlefield commander.

The Hive Tyrant itself fights much like the Carnifex, with enraged brutality and swipes to focus on single Ultramarines. The Hive Tyrant can also send out devastating psychic blasts that must be dodged. What’s perhaps the most dangerous ability of the Hive Tyrant is how it can regenerate, meaning this 2 phase boss fight is going to test players on the hardest difficulties.

1 Imurah

A Chaos Sorcerer With the Power of Untold Artifacts

imurah the chaos sorcerer

Acting as the final boss of Space Marine 2 is Imurah, a Chaos Sorcerer that has the abilities of the warp that are even further influenced thanks to the artifacts and manipulation of Project Aurora. Imurah’s second boss fight is this Chaos servant at his most deadly, and he will fly around the battlefield shooting projectiles and throwing his deadly staff, all whilst channeling his energy to summon a deadly Lord of Change.

The Feathered Lord can be extremely devastating to those unfamiliar with how it works, and failure to shoot at the Winged Watcher’s eye will cause even greater suffering at the hands of Chaos. Imurah is a worthy challenge to the Ultramarines who face him in the game’s final chapter.
