The iconic armor of Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 has inspired some players to bring a touch of Fallout into the game via special paint jobs. The customized armor sets shared with the Space Marine 2 community are based on similarly recognizable Fallout power armor.

Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 is making waves in both the gaming industry and the Warhammer fan community, as the most vivid recreation yet of Games Workshop's legendary wargame franchise. Developer Saber Interactive employed modern high-quality graphics tech to make the game look as close to the Warhammer 40,000 lore as possible. Games Workshop even guided the studio when Space Marine 2 armor designs fell short of canonical standards.

That said, lore accuracy isn't a standard typically applied to players, who just want to express themselves. And some are using Space Marine 2's armor customization system to express their affection for Fallout. Players PizzaHobo6 and BusyBeeBridgette both shared customized Space Marine 2 armor based on one of the best Fallout power armor suits, the T-51b.

Custom Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 Power Armor Evokes the Fallout T-51b Suit

Canonically constructed and deployed just before the outbreak of the Great War in the Fallout timeline, the T-51b Power Armor is in many ways the poster child for the Fallout series, and appears in some capacity in every Fallout game and spin-off. Both players who submitted their Fallout-inspired suits chose to take otherwise standard suits of Space Marine 2 armor and customize their colors to match the usual color scheme of the T-51b: The chest, legs, and forearms painted in U.S. Army olive drab and the head, upper legs, and lower torso in unpainted chrome or metallic gray. PizzaHobo6 used the standard issue Tactical Armor set for their take, while BusyBeeBridgette used more decorated Artificer or Relic Heavy Armor for their version, which resulted in slightly different color blocking, as well.

Players praised both players' work on bringing a touch of the Fallout's "post-nuclear" mood to the grim darkness of the far future. One comment also remarked that the use of olive drab on Astartes power armor actually evokes not just Fallout but also a canonical Space Marine Chapter, the Raptor contingent of the Raven Guard. Others noted that while the Space Marine armor customization system allows for a good amount of variety in Space Marine armor decorations and other accessories, it isn't quite as flexible as some other costume customization systems. They theorized that it might be due to Games Workshop and Saber Interactive not wanting to stray too far from "lore-accurate" designs.
