  • Fans can look forward to Dark Heresy, Boltgun 2, Mechanicus 2, and Supremacy as new games from the Warhammer Skulls showcase.

  • Updates for existing Warhammer games were announced, including Total War: Warhammer 3 and a surprise collaboration with Counter-Strike and Rust.

The Skulls Showcase just wrapped up, giving Warhammer fans a look at what’s coming in the near future. Quite a few games had been teased prior to this, with one leak in particular raising a lot of eyebrows and a lot of people’s hopes. Unfortunately for some, there weren’t any new AAA games revealed, and the speculation about a Warhammer 40,000 Total War game will have to keep on chugging.

Rather, a handful of titles were revealed for the first time, including two classic remasters, and plenty more existing titles had new content announced or shown off. Indeed, there’s sure to be something on this list for fans of Warhammer to enjoy from the Skulls showcase.

The New Games Announced at Warhammer Skulls

  • Dark Heresy
  • Boltgun 2
  • Mechanicus 2
  • Supremacy

Fans of Warhammer’s smaller-scale projects will probably be happy to see the TTRPG Dark Heresy being adapted into a game, as well as some of the best-reviewed Warhammer 40,000 games getting sequels. Boomer shooter enjoyers have usually had great things to say about Boltgun, so it’s great to see the studio is able to follow up on it, letting players take control of the fiery Malum Caedo, while those who enjoy some more methodical turn-based tactical gameplay can look forward to Mechanicus 2, the sequel to the beloved original. Supremacy rounds out the new releases as a mobile tactics game taking place on Vigilus, featuring Imperial Guard, Space Marines, Orks, and Chaos.

Two Classic Games Remastered for Warhammer Skulls

  • Dawn of War Definitive Edition
  • Space Marine Master Crafted Edition

Two of Relic’s most popular and oldest games are being remastered. Dawn of War Definitive Edition includes all the original game plus expansions in one package, and will feature improved textures, lighting, camera, draw distances, 4K support, and a new 64-bit modding framework, while Space Marine Master Crafted Edition also receives updated textures, and a modernized UI. The improvements seem to be relatively minor in both cases, with the texture updates for Space Marine requiring a very keen eye to notice. The prices have not been confirmed, but strangely, Space Marine Master Crafted Edition is not coming to PlayStation, despite the original being available on PS3.

Speed Freeks Enters 1.0, Leaving Early Access

Warhammer 40,000: Speed Freeks has carried the combat racing game torch since launching in early access last year. It’s finally in 1.0, with nine vehicles, 10 maps, and more features to see it through. It’s a pretty fun return to form for a small genre, and 40K fans should give it a go if they can.

All the Updates Announced for Existing Games as Warhammer Skulls

  • Rogue Trader: Lex Imperialis
  • Talisman Digital 5th Edition: Alliances; Fate Beckons
  • Total War: Warhammer 3 - Tides of Torment
  • Warhammer Combat Cards: World Eaters and Arks of Omen update
  • Tacticus: Custodes update
  • GOG Preserved: Chaos Gate: Final Liberation; Epic 40,000; Rites of War; and Shadow of the Horned Rat
  • Blood Bowl 3 Season 9
  • Boltgun: Words of Vengeance
  • Vermintide: Verminous Dreams - The Well of Dreams
  • Battlesector: Deeds of the Fallen, plus free updates
  • Warpforge: Emperors Children card pack
  • Horus Heresy: Legions - Shattered Legions card pack
  • Darktide: Arbites Enforcer
  • Space Marine 2: Siege Mode

It’s quite the meaty list, with plenty of Warhammer’s smaller titles getting some free updates and DLC to boot. A few of the notable ones are Rogue Trader: Lex Imperialis, a new expansion with new characters and locations, made by the same studio that is bringing out the new Dark Heresy game. TW: Warhammer’s Tides of Torment teaser will reveal more soon, while Vermintide’s last update for Verminous Dreams was announced, The Well of Dreams. Space Marine 2’s Horde Mode was finally revealed, titled Siege Mode, and it seems to be bringing staple bosses from Operations to the new wave-based mode. Darktide is also getting a new character, the Arbites Enforcer, spreading the Emperor’s mercy among heretics.

Two unexpected collaborations were also announced between Warhammer and some popular IPs. Both Counter-Strike and Rust will be getting Warhammer-themed content, which, in the case of CS, is presumably skins, but as for Rust, it’s hard to guess. Fans of Rust will find out soon enough, however.
