Is Crossplay Supported in Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2?

You’ll be glad to know that Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 supports full crossplay, for the most part, that is. The developer has confirmed that you’ll be able to play both Campaign and Operations modes with players on any platform. PC players can team up with console players, and vice versa.

However, things change when it comes to Eternal War, the game’s 6v6 PvP mode. In this mode, crossplay is only supported between Steam and Epic Games Store players, meaning they cannot compete with those on PS5 or Xbox Series X|S. The same applies to console players — Xbox and PlayStation users can play multiplayer together, but not with PC players.

This limitation exists to keep the game fair, as PC players typically have an advantage over console players in terms of aiming precision.

Enabling or Disabling Crossplay in Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2

Warhammer 40,000 Space Marine 2 crossplay setting

When you start playing with friends on different platforms, you'll want to ensure that crossplay is enabled. While the game has crossplay turned on by default, you can double-check it yourself by following these steps.

Open the Settings menu.
Scroll to the bottom of the Game tab.
In the Network section, you'll find the Crossplay option.
Ensure Crossplay is set to "On."

Please note, you can only adjust the crossplay setting from the main menu. While in-game, the option will be greyed out.

If you prefer playing Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 with players on your platform only, you can turn crossplay off. However, there's no real advantage to doing so, and you'll likely just increase matchmaking times. Regardless, the option to disable it is available if needed.
