The Old Peace update for Warframe introduced a new quest that pushed the game's narrative forward, but perhaps more importantly, it added two new replayable mission types for players to farm. The Perita Rebellion and Descendia mission types are the stars of the Old Peace patch, and they make up the brunt of the update's content along with the new weapons, Warframe, and other features.
Accessing the Dark Refractory is pretty simple, and if you're a new Warframe player, you won't even need to progress your account much if you want to get a taste of what its missions have to offer.
Warframe Tier List 2025 (Best Warframes, Ranked)
Here's the definitive tier list of all the Warframes players can choose from.
How to Access the Dark Refractory in Warframe
To open up the Dark Refractory menu, you'll first need to complete The Old Peace quest, which you can start after you finish the Lotus Eaters quest. This should take you a little over an hour to finish, and once you're done with that, head over to your Navigation Console. Don't press it — you'll notice that a Dark Refractory option should now be available. Press the button that appears on your screen to open the menu.
In the Dark Refractory screen, you can choose between Perita Rebellion and Descendia. Both have their own sets of rewards, so if you want to farm for something specific, make sure that you're playing the right mission type.
If you're a new player, you can skip the Old Peace's prerequisites and jump straight to Descendia and Perita Rebellion by accepting the Mission Preview warning window that appears after you complete The Teacher quest.
Warframe Descendia, Explained
Descendia is a mission type that's in the same vein as The Circuit from Duviri. It's a weekly game mode with a list of rewards to claim, but instead of getting dropped into a chain of endless missions, Descendia ends once players plow through 21 stages called Infernums.
Each Infernum features a specific mission type (i.e. Capture, Alchemy, etc), and they have active modifiers called Penances as well. Such modifiers may include:
- Chemical Warfare: The arena is covered in toxic gas. Defeat enemies to create safe zones.
- Bubble Blasters: Enemies fire large, slow-moving spheres.
- Falling Debris: Debris is constantly falling down onto the arena, damaging anything they hit.
The 7th and 14th Infernums are rest zones. There, you can meet Marie and Lyon, both of whom will give you buffs. When you complete the 21st Infernum, you get a guaranteed component drop for either the Uriel Warframe or the Vinquibus bayonet rifle. The latter two are unaffected by weekly reward limits.
Warframe Perita Rebellion, Explained
The Perita Rebellion mode throws players into 12-minute missions where they must complete as many objectives (called Orders) as possible. When the timer expires, a big boss fight begins.
On the Perita Rebellion screen, you'll see two sets of options:
- Recall: These are essentially memories related to the war on Tau. Each represent a different boss you need to defeat.
- Focus School: You can choose to run your mission using one of the available Focus Schools. Different schools give you different bonuses and Tauron Strikes.
Perita Rebellion Rewards
At the end of each Perita Rebellion run, you'll get resources that you can use to unlock Tauron Strikes, which are powerful ultimate moves for your Operator. Furthermore, these resources are also used to unlock new nodes for your Focus Schools.
