Visions of Mana: Behind the Scenery 1 Quest Guide

Side quests in Visions of Mana are often straightforward go-there-kill-that or go-there-get-that affairs that don’t demand much from the player. The game is not very hard and more of a cozy adventure rather than something more involved. There are a select few quests, however, the require a little more attention.

Behind the Scenery 1 is the first side quest in a series of quests that task players with finding the in-game equivalent of a painted scenery put to canvas by the genius painter Darni. Traveler Fiona is looking for the exact spot near Longren, the Vale of Wind, and asks Val for his help.

Behind the Scenery 1 Puzzle Solution

At the start of this quest, Fiona shows Val a picture of a cliff with multiple waterfalls, observed from a high elevation point near a large oak tree. Val’s job is to find the exact area where the painter would’ve stood.

The location where players need to go is in the southeastern part of the Aery Passage. Activate ‘Behind the Scenery 1’ from the journal, and the general location where players need to go will be highlighted on the map (shown above).

There are two ways to reach this location:

From Longren Exit
From Charred Passage Exit

From Longren

Head south and take the narrow passage to the valley at the bottom. Activate the Meridian in the middle and turn east. You’ll see a narrow road hugging the eastern cliff wall, circling around the valley. Take it to the top, and you’ll end up at the top of the valley near the quest marker. Defeat the enemies in the area and walk to the cliff edge.

You’ll notice the oak tree to your left and the waterfalls in front of you. While standing near the cliff edge, an activation prompt "Admire the View" will appear. Interact with it to summon Fiona and complete the quest.

The prompt may not appear if there are enemies nearby. Defeat everything in the area to get it to appear.

From Charred Passage

Alternatively, head west from the Longren exit and travel toward the Charred Passage. Then, head south along the narrow path to the Meridian in the bottommost part of the map. Finally, take the passage to the east, and you’ll end up at the top of the valley where the picture was taken.
