Ever since the pandemic lockdowns began last year, the theater industry has struggled heavily from both a lack of content and an audience to watch what they do have to show. While many understand the importance of not being open during the height of the pandemic, that doesn't change the fact that doing so has been a heavy economic toll on businesses that rely on public participation, especially theaters. Now that vaccines are rolling out across the country, however, many people in the movie business are eager to let people know it's safe to return to the theater, as Vin Diesel did in a new Fast and Furious 9 promo.

The latest promo for the film may catch some fans off-guard though. It's a little more meta than the average trailer, directly addressing the situation audiences find themselves in, and promising that things will be back to normal sooner rather than later. Diesel himself narrates the promo, expressing his hopes that F9 will help bring the theater-going experience back and people can enjoy a form of entertainment they've been deprived of for nearly a year.

Even if it is ultimately an F9 promo for a cheesy action movie, it's hard not to feel a little moved by Diesel's description of the hardship the whole world has gone through: "The roads were a little empty. The places where we used to gather, went quiet. We've gone through a year that tested us, but we're starting to see the promise of a new day." Then, of course, the promo turns to the theater itself, how it existed as a communal place to escape the trouble of people's day-to-day lives.

It's around then that the promo launches into an actual trailer of sorts, which should be mostly familiar to anyone who has seen the other F9 promo material. After all the hardship, struggles, and sacrifices brought on by the pandemic, it can seem a little silly to be excited over an action movie of all things, but this is a welcome sign that maybe things are starting to return to normal. As Diesel says in the promo: "We're ready to make you believe again, because nobody does a comeback like the movies." Let's hope he's right.

Fast and Furious 9  hits theaters on June 25th.
