Super Mario RPG Remake and New Super Mario Bros. Announced at Nintendo Direct

recap (1)

Mario fans got a lot more than they may have been prepared to receive at this week’s Nintendo Direct, where a remake of Super Mario RPG and a new 2D side-scrolling game titled Super Mario Bros. Wonder were announced. Likewise, a standalone Princess Peach game was briefly teased.

Immortals of Aveum Delayed to End of August

recap (1)

Immortals of Aveum has left the prime real estate of a largely unoccupied July and is now scheduled for an already incredibly packed end of August. Indeed, Immortals of Aveum’s quality assurance delay now launches it right before the likes of Blasphemous 2, Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon, and Sea of Stars, and it will be interesting to see how it fares as a high fantasy FPS.

Horizon Forbidden West Update Adds Lance Reddick Tribute

recap (2)

Lance Reddick has been commemorated in Horizon Forbidden West’s Burning Shores DLC through a recent update following the actor’s passing earlier this year. This memorial isn’t a subtle nod to the actor while still maintaining the appearance of the character he played, but rather a hologram of Reddick’s name on full display.

Harry Potter’s Newest Game Releases Next Week

recap

Harry Potter has always been immensely popular and that continues to be true amid all the controversial and transphobic comments that the source material’s author has made. Hogwarts Legacy was a massive success of its own, but with a decade-long Harry Potter reboot series and Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions in the works, mobile game Harry Potter: Magic Awakened launching on June 27 is just icing on a magical cake.

EA Games Undergoes Structural Retitling

recap

In a move made to help consolidate future endeavors, EA studios will henceforth be shuffled into EA Sports and EA Entertainment, with the latter being a new title for the EA Games label.

Features

Hollow Knight: Silksong yet again evaded another showcase where it was hoped it would appear, and therefore fans still have all the time in the world to prepare for the sequel by exploring other 2D Soulslike Metroidvanias. On the other hand, Rocksteady’s entire trilogy of Batman: Arkham games and all their DLC were announced for the Switch, though it will surely have some issues to address such as how they will compete in terms of performance.

Movies & TV

The Flash is the latest superhero entry hurled onto an already ubiquitous and oversaturated pile of multiverse content, and some viewers have had more of a mixed reception to it than they may have received Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness or Spider-Man: No Way Home. It seems like everyone agrees that Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is by and large the best of them, though, and The Flash’s missteps help accentuate what makes Across the Spider-Verse more favorable.

Guides

Marvel Snap is currently underway in its crossover celebration for Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, and there’s still plenty of time left for players to earn or pay their way through to all of its associable rewards.

The Best War Games Exclusives

Final Fantasy 16 makes some exciting strides ahead for an already enormous franchise, where it seems like a Game of Thrones inspiration and features like the Active Lore System propel it to greater heights.
