Marvel fans have waited a long time for the Fantastic Four to enter the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but the wait is almost over, as Fantastic Four: The First Steps will be released on July 25, 2025. This is the next film in Marvel's long-running slate of movies and will provide a serious buildup toward Avengers: Doomsday. All of this combined places no shortage of pressure on the four actors taking on the titular roles in this movie.

Vanessa Kirby will be bringing the role of Sue Storm to life in Fantastic Four: The First Steps, following on from Jessica Alba and Kate Mara, who have previously taken on that role. However, the major difference for Kirby is that she is joining a much wider, already established franchise. While that brings some benefits, it also adds a high level of expectation.

Given how well-established the MCU is at this stage and how many people have been part of it, being added to the franchise will always be a nerve-wracking experience. Regardless of how well-known or experienced an actor is, there is a lot of pressure, but two established Marvel stars were on hand to offer Kirby advice when she joined up. She praised Sebastian Stan, Florence Pugh, and Mark Ruffalo when speaking to Kino, for how welcoming they were when she was cast in Fantastic Four: The First Steps.

“It's like a community and they gave us great advice. It's like an extended family, especially when you're involved in projects like Avengers. If we interact with them, it's going to be really fun.”

Even though none of those actors will be part of Fantastic Four: The First Steps, the fact that they took the time to welcome her into the franchise shows how close the wider cast are. That togetherness is one of the reasons why there has been a seamless transition between the different Marvel movies, and ultimately, all come together for major crossover movies, such as the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday. That film is currently in production and will give the Fantastic Four stars the chance to work with more members of the MCU franchise.

Kirby is confirmed to star in Avengers: Doomsday, which will see the Fantastic Four thrown into an Avengers movie for the first time since the franchise began. The characters may end up getting the chance to interact with the New Avengers, which would see Kirby share the screen with Stan and Pugh. The Fantastic Four ship is seen flying into the area where Marvel's other new group are in the post-credits scene in Thunderbolts*, which has left fans thinking they could spend time together. However, there has also been a theory that there is going to be a totally different group inside the ship.

Kirby will be playing a pregnant version of Storm within Fantastic Four: The First Steps, which is providing one of the big question marks heading into this movie. It is also expected to be one of the major plot points throughout it, which will help to develop her character. It will provide Kirby with a big opportunity to flex her acting muscles as she and the rest of the team aim to make Fantastic Four: The First Steps a significant hit at the box office to drive the MCU forward.
