In the Chilling Update, Vampire Survivors will give players a new map called Whiteout, a new character with ice powers to match the stage, and new achievements and items for players to collect along the way.
The sudden announcement of the upcoming 1.7 update arrived over a week after Vampire Survivors patch 1.6.108 was released. In that patch, a number of bug fixes and tweaks were made to the game, including fixes to certain user interface elements, weapons, and visual effects, and brought the Traditional Chinese localization to Vampire Survivors. While the patch was not as substantial as the previous ones that brought co-op mode and the Tides of the Foscari DLC, the updates were welcomed by players. However, the team at Poncle is not done with providing players with more content to look forward to.
Though no release date was given for Vampire Survivors version 1.7 at the time of writing, the update will be released globally in a few weeks, according to the game's social media feeds. To coincide with the news of version 1.7, Vampire Survivors showed a short 52-second video that showcased the Chilling Update in action. In the trailer, the new Whiteout map was briefly shown, along with flying skulls, ice monsters, and hordes of snowmen in top hats for players to melt with fiery weapons and magic. A new weapon called the Glass Fandango was shown, which may add a new wrinkle to the best weapon combinations in Vampire Survivors.
In addition to the normal version of the Whiteout level, players who collect 20 Orologians will have access to the Hyper Whiteout level. Plus, players who survive for 20 minutes in Whiteout will be able to unlock a new playable character in Vampire Survivors called She-Moon. This blue-colored character will likely have an icy weapon as part of their initial kit, along with other perks. While it remains to be seen how difficult the Whiteout stage will be compared to its predecessors, the 1.7 update for Vampire Survivors will be available free of charge.
