Unlocking the Je-Ne-Viv character in Vampire Survivors is not an easy, straightforward task. In fact, there are quite few steps players must take before they unlock this character. The effort is worth it though, as Je-Ne-Viv is one of the strongest characters in the game — even though it starts with one of the weaker weapons.
This guide will give players a step-by-step guide to unlocking Je-Ne-Viv, as well as an overview of the character and a recommended build. Before getting started, it should be noted that Je-Ne-Viv is exclusive to the Tides of Foscari DLC for Vampire Survivors. Without this DLC, this character is unobtainable.
Unlocking Je-Ne-Viv
Unlocking Genevieve was a chore, but players who have unlocked that character are already about 80% closer to unlocking Je-Ne-Viv. In short, the player needs to defeat at least 100,000 enemies in a single run with Genevieve to unlock Je-Ne-Viv.
Unlocking Genevieve is a bit more complicated. The player must destroy three crystals located in the Lake Foscari and Abyss Foscari stages. This starts with using Eleanor to unlock Maruto, and then using Maruto to unlock Keitha.
With Keitha, and her evolved starting weapon, the player can destroy the Seal of the Lake crystal in Lake Foscari. This will unlock Abyss Foscari. In Abyss Foscari, the player must use Maruto to destroy the Seal of the Abyss, then on the next run, use Eleanor to destroy the Seal of the Banished. Doing all this unlocks Genevieve.
With Genevieve unlocked, the player needs to start a run with her. The stage doesn't matter, but players should avoid Challenge Stages for this (unless they want a challenge). Defeating 100,000 enemies on a run can be tricky for beginning players. The best way of ensuring the player will encounter this many enemies is to turn Endless Mode on. After that, the only thing the player needs to focus on is surviving.
Another tactic is to get the Skull O'Maniac passive item. This item increases the amount of enemies onscreen. Torrona's Box also does this, but using both of these items can get a little overwhelming. The Skull O'Maniac is the better choice as it's needed to evolve Genevieve's starting weapon.
Je-Ne-Viv Overview
Passive Bonuses
Je-Ne-Viv is one of the easiest characters to use in Vampire Survivors. Its passive bonuses include:
- +150 Max Health
- +5 Armor
- +50% Might
- +50% Greed
- +50% Magnet
- +7 Reroll
These passive bonuses are roughly the equivalent of starting with the fully leveled Spinach, Armor, Stone Mask, Hollow Heart, and Attractorb passive items — and there's nothing stopping the player from getting these items and effectively doubling the bonuses.
Starting Weapons & Abilities
Je-Ne-Viv starts with the Shadow Servant weapon. This is an awful starting weapon, but this character starts with a free hidden weapon called Insatiable, which creates a circular zone around the character that damages enemies.
Je-Ne-Viv also gets the World Eater ability. World Eater activates when the character dies, kills all enemies onscreen, turns the enemies into healing hearts, and imitates the Vacuum pick-up item. This activates every six levels and once per death; it resets after every Revive.
