Version 1.0 of Vampire Survivors has finally been released. With it comes an abundance of new content to the game, including several much-needed quality-of-life improvements. One of the more exciting additions is a new character, Avatar Infernus, who starts with a new weapon.
Unlocking Infernus is quite involved, even for a dedicated player who is starting version 1.0 with all early access content already unlocked. It's worth it though, as Infernus is a powerful character with some interesting passive bonuses that make even the Inverse Mode seem tame.
Unlocking Avatar Infernus
The first step to unlocking this character is to unlock the final stage, Eudaimonia Machine. To unlock this stage the player needs to collect all relics. Veteran players of Vampire Survivors will likely have all the relics and can jump right in and start the final stage. New players have a lot of play-time ahead of them as there are eleven relics that they will need to collect.
Once Eudaimonia Machine is unlocked, the player needs to start a run in this stage. Any character will do. When the stage begins, the player is forced to walk upward, where they will quickly encounter the Mysterious Entity. The next step is to interact with this entity by walking into it. It will present the player with two choices, "Too Easy" or "Too Hard." Selecting "Too Easy" will give the player Gracia's Mirror, which unlocks Inverse Mode and sends the player back to the title screen.
Now the player needs to start any stage and make sure the Inverse tab at the bottom of the stage select screen is checked. They should then enter and then exit the stage. This will make Eudaimonia Machine available again, at which point they should return to this stage. This time the player will be given the Seventh Trumpet and returned to the title screen. Once again, they'll need to start any stage, but should this time make sure that the Endless tab is checked. Once again, they'll want to start and then exit the stage.
Next, players should go to Eudaimonia Machine one last time and interact with the Mysterious Entity, who will challenge the player at this point. The player must defeat the entity. This entity has a lot of hit points, but is otherwise not that tough to defeat.
Inverted Library
After completing Eudaimonia Machine, the player now needs to start the Inlaid Library stage on Inverse Mode and immediately begin heading to the right. While heading to the right, the player needs to get Peachone and Ebony Wings. Around the bonus Stone Mask, the player will encounter the Trickster (Purple Death) sitting at a piano.
After defeating the Trickster the player needs to interact with the piano. If Peachone and Ebony Wings are obtained they will show which keys the player needs to play. At this point, the screen will darken, and nine coffins will appear in the immediate area.
Players should open these coffins to force the secret boss to appear. The boss is Avatar Infernus. After defeating Infernus, the player will be able to purchase it at the character select screen. The initial price is 666 gold, but this scales up if other characters have been purchased.
Avatar Infernus
This character starts with the new Flames of Misspell weapon, which is a toned-down version of the Nduja Fritta Tanto pickup item. With the Empty Tome, Candelabrador, and Bracer passive items, the Flames of Misspell act as an unlimited Nduja Fritta Tanto - making it one of the most potent weapons in the game. Infernus starts with a +50% Luck, +100% Magnet, +60 Max Health, +50% Might, and +1 Revival. In addition, Infernus gains -0.25% Cooldown, +0.5% Curse, +0.5% Might, and +2% MoveSpeed every level, with no maximum.
Vampire Survivors is available now on PC and macOS.
