Summary

  • Nintendo's latest financial report reveals seven big upcoming Switch games.
  • While rumors swirl about a Switch 2 console in 2024, Nintendo is still focused on releasing new games for the original Switch.

Nintendo's latest financial report highlighted seven big upcoming Switch games for fans to look forward to, with six of those titles arriving in 2024. The Switch has been an incredible success for Nintendo, largely thanks to the amazing library of games it's built over the years.

Since launching the Switch six years ago, Nintendo has released a number of critically-acclaimed titles for the platform. In fact, some Switch exclusives stand tall as some of the highest-rated video games ever released, like the beloved 3D platformer Super Mario Odyssey and the recently-released open world game The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. With persistent rumors of a Switch 2 console releasing in 2024, many fans may have expected that the original Switch would be done releasing big games, but there are still many titles on the way for the home console/handheld hybrid.

Nintendo Reveals Updated Switch Console Sales Numbers

Nintendo reveals updated sales numbers for the Nintendo Switch showing that it's climbing even higher up the list of best-selling consoles.

The big upcoming Switch games were highlighted in Nintendo's latest financial report. The Switch has one major first-party game left for 2023 in the form of the Super Mario RPG remake launching on November 17, but otherwise the list consists of games releasing in 2024. Nintendo has Another Code: Recollection releasing January 19, 2024, while Mario vs. Donkey Kong is set to launch on February 16, 2024. Princess Peach: Showtime will be available beginning March 22, 2024, while Luigi's Mansion 2 HD currently has a vague summer 2024 release window. Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door is releasing in 2024 at some point, and finally, Metroid Prime 4 is still in the works for the Switch as well.

  • Super Mario RPG - November 17, 2023
  • Another Code: Recollection - January 19, 2024
  • Mario vs. Donkey Kong - February 16, 2024

Nintendo tends to release at least one big game per month each year, and it's looking like it will keep that pace for 2024. Some fans may point out that Nintendo currently doesn't have anything announced for beyond summer 2024 at the time of this writing, but that doesn't mean that it doesn't have new Switch games planned for that time of year. In fact, Nintendo plans on releasing new Switch games through at least March 2025.

Even though Nintendo may have even more Switch games in the pipeline beyond the ones listed in its financial report, one has to imagine that it will start turning its attention to the Switch 2. Nintendo has pushed back against the Switch 2 rumors that have been making the rounds online, but it's still highly likely that the company's next console will release next year. Whenever the Switch 2 is announced, it will definitely be interesting to see what games make up its launch lineup and what else fans have to look forward to from the new device.

The Nintendo Switch OLED comes with several upgrades over the original Nintendo Switch console while maintaining game compatibility with the old console. With a larger 7-inch OLED screen and double the internal storage of the original Nintendo Switch, it doesn't feel like a new console altogether. That being said, it is an option worth checking out for a better display.
