With the Until Dawn remake releasing in less than a month, PlayStation has confirmed the PC requirements and features for the upcoming horror game. Keeping in line with PlayStation's other PC ports, Until Dawn offers plenty of compelling features for players on the platform, and looks to be fairly well-optimized as well.
The remake of the 2015 original is set to release on October 4, perfectly in time for spooky season alongside Silent Hill 2. While Until Dawn was well-received back when it launched on PS4, a lot of fans still question why PlayStation specifically chose this game to be remade. Some theorize that the Until Dawn remake could be a precursor to the franchise taking up a more prominent role in the future, especially since there's an Until Dawn movie in development. It could very well be that this remake's commercial reception also decides whether a potential Until Dawn 2 will happen, but that remains to be seen.
It also remains to be seen whether the remake will impress players like the original did nine years ago, but PC users who plan on shelling out $60 for Until Dawn will likely be satisfied on the technical front at least. Developer Ballistic Moon outlined the PC requirements for Until Dawn in a recent PlayStation.Blog post, revealing that players will require 8GB RAM, a GTX 1660 / AMD RX 470, and an Intel i7 4790K / AMD Ryzen 5 1500X at the very minimum to run the game at 720p 30fps. Dialing Until Dawn all the way up to 4K 60fps will require an RTX 3080 Ti / AMD RX 6900XT, Intel i7 11700K / AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D, and 16GB RAM.

Until Dawn PC Features
- Ray tracing: shadows, reflections, and ambient occlusion
- Unlocked framerates
- Ultrawide monitor support: 21:9, 32:9, and more
- Nvidia DLSS 3.7 and AMD FSR 3.1: upscaling and frame-generation
- Full DualSense integration: haptic feedback and adaptive triggers
The hardware optimization seems quite robust for an Unreal Engine 5 title, especially on the low end. That's not all, though, as Ballistic Moon also detailed a plethora of features that will help make Until Dawn look and run even better on PC, namely support for ultrawide monitors, ray tracing, and both upscaling and frame generation via the cutting-edge Nvidia DLSS 3.7 and AMD FSR 3.1. Much like Concord's PC version, Until Dawn will also feature full support for the DualSense controller, which means PC users won't miss out on the immersion provided by the haptics and adaptive triggers.
Although skepticism around the Until Dawn remake subsists, Ballistic Moon and PlayStation have at least gone all-out on an extensive feature set for PC players. Hopefully, these features are compelling enough for PC users to give Until Dawn a shot when it releases next month, as the game's success seems even more critical after the recent layoffs at Ballistic Moon.
