Unicorn Overlord: How to Promote

Players can begin promoting their recruits as soon as they initiate the Better Than Ever overworld quest and reach Renown Rank B. For full clarity, that quest is given by a marked NPC that appears just after competing The Resistance Lives On, the first quest in Unicorn Overlord's Elheim, and Renown Rank B is granted upon reach 1,750 points.

Players who are looking to expedite the process of reaching Renown Rank B should focus on quickly completing Auxiliary Stages, and setting the game's difficulty to Story is recommended when farming those stages.

After fans have fulfilled those two prerequisites, they can simply select the "Promote" option at any fort and perform the transformation on their desired recruits. This process is not free, though, and players should expect to spend between 25 and 50 Honors every time that they promote a character.

Unicorn Overlord: When to Promote

Promotion provides many benefits, including stat increases, new skills, additional AP and PP, and more gear slots. Players are thus advised to start promoting some of their Unicorn Overlord characters as soon as they gain access to the feature, as doing so will really improve the quality of their units.

That said, it is recommended that fans only promote a few recruits upon reaching Renown Rank B, as it is wise to have a stockpile of Honors in Unicorn Overlord available when Renown Rank A is achieved. This is due to the fact that players will gain the ability to increase the maximum size of their units from four to five at Renown Rank A, at a cost of 200 Honors per expansion, and granting that additional slot to a few units is definitely more impactful than promoting every character.

While players should feel free to use their preliminary promotions to upgrade their favorite classes, it is strongly recommended that one go to Alain. Indeed, Unicorn Overlord's Lord class gets a major benefit, a mount, when promoted to High Lord, and players are sure to appreciate the added mobility that it provides.
