As many have already been expecting, Undead Unluck is indeed coming to an end. Fans have been feeling for a while that the series is ending. Fans who have been enjoying the series watching the anime on Hulu/Disney+, on the other hand, are still far from bidding it farewell.

Shonen Jump has also reinforced their impressions, especially after announcing that the series would reach a "super climax" in January. The word "climax" is used in the manga industry in reference to the final moments of a story (not necessarily the final chapter itself, but something like the last three chapters).

Last Sunday, when Chapter 238 officially dropped on Manga Plus, the official French translation stated that the next one would be the last. Some speculated it could have been a mistranslation, but time has proved it right: Undead Unluck will end in Chapter 239.

The final volumes (26 and 27) will be out on April 4, 2025 — a new novel will also be released on the same day.

Fan Reception to the News

As usual, fans are sad that the series is ending, but they are also happy and excited to read the chapter, since they have been enjoying the story.

Some are also joking that Mission: Yozakura Family and Undead Unluck seem like sister series, as they are ending almost at the same time, and have maybe attracted a similar audience. While none of these two were flagship titles, they have been important to Shonen Jump's performance over the last 5 years and were both successful enough to be adapted into anime.

Is Something Wrong Going On At Jump?

Many have been concerned that Shonen Jump might be in the middle of a "creative crisis," as new titles have generally not been able to last over 6 years. However, it is good to remember that serializations for over 10 years are actually an exception when we analyze the magazine's history.

However, it seems that Shonen Jump is investing in diversity, and thus, even the bigger titles are unlikely to last over 6 years. Both Undead Unluck and Yozakura Family have lasted for over 20 volumes, which is generally a good mark for any manga.

The last chapter is set for release on January 26, 2025, or January 27, 2025 (it depends on your time zone). It will be offcially available on Shonen Jump and Manga Plus services.
