Summary

  • GOG, a popular distribution service for PC gamers, is adding two popular PlayStation games, Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection and God of War, to its platform.
  • This is not the first time GOG has featured first-party PlayStation titles, as Days Gone and Horizon: Zero Dawn Complete Edition are already available.
  • Sony is making an increased effort to push its first-party games on PC, with The Last of Us Part 1 already released on Steam.

A pair of popular first-party PlayStation games are coming to the GOG storefront, with both Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection and God of War listed as "Coming Soon." Though not as instantly recognizable as some other platforms, GOG has become a popular distribution service for many PC gamers with a plethora of notable titles included. GOG has become a popular spot for a variety of classic PC games and often features free giveaways, with GOG previously giving away games like Jazz Jackrabbit 2 for free. Now, two popular PlayStation games are set to join a growing Sony lineup on GOG.

The upcoming additions will not mark the first time the digital distributor has featured first-party PlayStation titles on its platform. GOG already offers two other PlayStation games on the platform with both Days Gone and Horizon: Zero Dawn Complete Edition currently available at steep discounts. While Days Gone was met with largely mixed reviews, Horizon has been one of Sony's most popular franchises, with both Zero Dawn and Forbidden West receiving Game of the Year Nominations. Now, two more major Sony franchises are coming to GOG.

A new update to GOG's storefront reveals a pair of first-party Sony games coming to the platform in the near future. Sony's publisher page shows listings for the PC versions of Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection and God of War with each game listed as "Coming soon." The two games already feature fully fleshed out pages within the storefront, though no information is given about either game's release date on the platform. Uncharted and God of War will become the third and fourth Sony games added to the online distribution platform.

The addition of Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection and God of War to GOG comes as part of an increased effort from Sony to push its first-party games on PC. While most first-party PlayStation games feature a period of console exclusivity, several games have made the transition to platforms like Steam and the Epic Games Store. The Last of Us Part 1 officially saw a Steam release earlier this year, marking the first appearance on PC for the Sony franchise.

Sony's newest GOG additions join a suite of major games set to release on PS5 throughout the coming months. The highly-anticipated Marvel's Spider-Man 2 debuted to universal acclaim earlier this month, with the Spider-Man sequel becoming PlayStation Studios' fastest-selling game. The holiday season will also welcome several major multi-platform titles on PS5, including games like Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 and Like a Dragon Gaiden among others. Sony's GOG releases prove a commitment to the PC platform that will surely continue with more new releases.

From Santa Monica Studio and creative director Cory Barlog comes a new beginning for one of gaming’s most recognizable icons. Living as a man outside the shadow of the gods, Kratos must adapt to unfamiliar lands, unexpected threats, and a second chance at being a father. Together with his son Atreus, the pair will venture into the brutal Norse wilds and fight to fulfill a deeply personal quest.

Bold New Beginning — His vengeance against the Gods of Olympus years behind him, Kratos now lives as a man in the realm of Norse Gods and monsters. It is in this harsh, unforgiving world that he must fight to survive…And teach his son to do the same. This startling reimagining of God of War deconstructs the core elements that defined the series—satisfying combat breathtaking scale and a powerful narrative—and fuses them anew.

A Second Chance — Kratos is a father again. As mentor and protector to Atreus, a son determined to earn his respect, he is forced to deal with and control the rage that has long defined him while out in a very dangerous world with his son.

A Darker, More Elemental World — From the marble and columns of ornate Olympus to the gritty forests, mountains, and caves of Pre-Viking Norse lore, this is a distinctly new realm with its own pantheon of creatures, monsters, and gods. With an added emphasis on discovery and exploration, the world will draw players in to explore God of War’s breathtakingly threatening landscape—by far the largest in the franchise.

Vicious, Physical Combat — With an over the shoulder free camera that brings the player closer to the action than ever before, fights in God of War mirror the pantheon of Norse creatures Kratos will face: grand, gritty, and grueling. A new main weapon and new abilities retain the defining spirit of God of War while presenting a vision of violent conflict that forges new ground in the genre.
