What Are Unique Skills in Umamusume: Pretty Derby?

Unique skills are skills that scouted Umamusume have that are automatically given when career mode begins. These can be accessed by navigating to the Enhance menu and selecting Trainee. Underneath the Potential Levels button will be a button labeled "Trainee;" click on that one as well. Select the horse, then look at her skills. The rainbow-colored skill will be her unique skill.

These all begin at level 1, and you can bring it up to level 2 permanently by raising your one- or two-star horse's star level with star pieces in Umamusume: Pretty Derby. Three-star horses cannot raise their unique skills permanently to level 2. Level 2 is the highest level a skill can be raised to permanently; you'll need to temporarily raise it in every career playthrough in order to get more use out of it.

In order to raise the level of your unique skill in career mode, you will need to get more fans in Umamusume: Pretty Derby. The level of the skill is raised at specific times in a playthrough, and is raised if you meet the fan-number threshold.

As you can see, you need fewer fans to level up if the Uma has a dirt-aptitude of A or higher. At the time of writing, there is only one Uma that meets this requirement, Haru Urara, though there are plans to add more in the future.
