Every single horse girl added to Umamusume: Pretty Derby seems cooler than the last, and Curren Chan is no exception. Curren Chan is a fan-favorite Uma in Umamusume with a very specific racing style that makes her a perfect fit for PVP Team Trials unless you already have horses trained for her position.
Curren Chan is a Pace Chaser who exclusively runs Sprint races, so she's very easy to train. However, since she's so laser-focused on one specific type of race, she's not as versatile as other horse girls who can fill multiple roles with the right Legacy bonuses. If you train Curren Chan correctly, though, she'll become a crucial part of your roster and help you win way more Team Trials and career runs.
Umamusume: Pretty Derby - Complete Training Guide
For those wondering how to train Umamusume: Pretty Derby and complete their careers, here’s a simple guide that walks you through each step.
Curren Chan Stat Priority and Training Tips in Umamusume: Pretty Derby
Curren Chan is a Pace Chaser who runs Sprint races, so Speed and Power are her most important stats. Thankfully, she has growth rate bonuses for both of these stats, so you can hit incredibly high numbers by the end of her career.
You should try to hit 1000 Speed with Curren Chan, but she'll perform her best at the 1200 Speed cap. Use friendship training and Sparks to get her Speed as high as possible. Power should follow closely behind, as it's the most important stat for short races. Aim for 800-1000 Power with Curren Chan to be safe.
You can also build Curren Chan as a Front Runner if you get her aptitude up from a B to an A or S via Legacy bonuses. The stat spread for Curren Chan as a Front Runner remains mostly the same, though. Just make sure she has as much Speed as possible.
Curren Chan doesn't need a lot of Stamina since she runs Sprints, and she won't be a great fit for anything longer, even with aptitude buffs from Legacy Umamusume. As such, you'll be fine with 400-500 Stamina with Curren Chan. If you want to be extra safe, unlock an energy recovery skill for her just in case.
Guts and Wit are the last two stats you should be focusing on with Curren Chan. Speed and Power will cover most of your bases, though, so you only need 300-400 Guts and Wit for Curren Chan. Wit should ideally be higher than Guts so Curren Chan can reliably execute her skills. Plus, Wit training is a great way to get some energy back without completely wasting a career turn to rest.

This makes Curren Chan especially strong for Team Trials since you can stack debuff skills on her, and they'll help your other Sprint horses place higher.
Curren Chan's unique skill — #LookatCurren — grants her a speed boost when she passes another runner mid-race as long as she's positioned well. As such, you should give her early-race navigation skills to get her into position. After that, toss in some late-race acceleration boosts, and Curren Chan will blast past the competition in the second half of the race if all goes well. Paired with debuff skills, they won't be able to catch her.
Even though she's not as versatile as the other horses, Curren Chan is exceptionally strong in her niche. If you need a talented Sprint racer for your Umamusume team, you'll have a hard time doing any better than Curren Chan.
