EA Vancouver will release a brand-new update for EA Sports UFC 5 on May 1 at 1 PM ET, adding a new fighter to the game while also making some important gameplay improvements and bug fixes. Although EA Sports UFC 5 is now approaching its second anniversary, EA Vancouver continues to release a steady stream of new content updates while also ensuring the game's roster aligns with the official UFC rankings.
With new EA Sports UFC games often being released every two to three years, fans are eagerly awaiting news on the series' next instalment. While there has been nothing official from EA as of right now, a rumor from October 2024 suggests the studio is currently developing EA Sports UFC 6. According to an Insider Gaming's Mike Straw, the next entry in the EA Sports UFC series is now in full production and is targeting a 2025 release. Although the title is expected to launch sometime this year, Straw says there is a chance that EA Sports UFC 6 doesn't launch until 2026.

While rumors may suggest that EA is hard at work on UFC 6, that hasn't stopped the studio from releasing new EA Sports UFC 5 updates regularly. The latest update is set to go live today at 1 PM ET and will add Welterweight fighter Bryan Battle to the game's roster. Battle joined the UFC in 2021 and currently holds a record of 7 wins, 1 loss, and 1 no-contest under the promotion. The Welterweight doesn't currently have a scheduled bout and hasn't fought since December 2024, where he defeated Randy Brown by split decision at UFC 310.
Alongside the addition of Bryan Battle, fans will be able to check out new alter egos in EA Sports UFC 5 from May 6th. EA Vancouver has not confirmed which fighters will be receiving new alter egos, but did note that new assorted vanity rewards will also be added with the latest update. As for gameplay changes and bug fixes, numerous adjustments have been made, including a fix for an issue related to the crucifix position when grappling and a fix for an issue that was causing fighters to get stuck in the tower feet on hips position.
The latest update comes just one month after EA Sports UFC 5 received a big player resurgence thanks to its debut on PlayStation Plus. The title joined the service in March and quickly received a huge player count boost of 127.3%. The drastic jump in players has made EA Sports UFC 5 the second biggest game to join PlayStation Plus in 2025, only being beaten out by God of War Ragnarok, which joined PS Plus in January 2025.
