Later this year, Twitch subscriptions are getting another price increase for some users in over 40 countries, but only on specific platforms.

A recent update from Twitch announced through the platform's social media is making even more improvements to the clip function on Twitch. Twitch clips will now automatically generate a vertically-oriented "portrait" version of clips for sharing through services like YouTube Shorts and Facebook Reels. Creators can also manually edit the portrait versions and trims of their clips, as well as their titles, at any time before publishing the video. Twitch also confirmed in its announcement post that it will soon be implementing a feature to directly share clips to other platforms like YouTube and TikTok.

Twitch Rolling Out Upgrade to Clips

Alongside the new feature, Twitch shared several details about the future of the clip system as well, teasing multiple updates. The streaming platform confirmed that content creators may see their number of Clips drop with the new Twitch update, given the greater effort required to publish Clips under the new version. Twitch also revealed it is adding a "Clips carousel" to streamers' dashboards, allowing content creators to quickly gauge their most-viewed clips at any time. The update will remove the "channel name overlay" with the new system, with Twitch working on a way to better integrate the overlay.

With Clips receiving major improvements, fans have commonly asked for a plethora of changes to improve the overall experience on the site. A "Rewind" feature has been a common request among fans on Twitch, allowing users to scrub back into a stream to catch moments they may have missed. Twitch has also seen a rise in its competition in recent years, with YouTube growing more popular for streaming and upstarts like Kick making a major splash.
