Twitch CEO Dan Clancy says he's "excited" for xQc, who recently signed a $100 million deal with competitive streaming service Kick. While Twitch has long been the top streaming platform on the internet, that hasn't slowed competitors from paying top streamers exorbitant amounts of money to jump ship. XQc's Kick deal is unlike anything ever seen before. Yet Kick's decision to allow xQc to continue streaming on Twitch appears to have left the platform unstirred.

When CEO Clancy was asked what his opinion of xQc's deal was, few likely expected him to say anything let alone react positively. Clancy even says that he's excited for the streamer, because it's going to allow xQc to do stuff on Kick that Twitch's policies wouldn't allow him to do. It comes off as Clancy's thinking that xQc will keep coming back to Twitch, while Kick will be an opportunity to experiment with other types of content. In other words, Clancy doesn't necessarily see Kick as a threat even after it paid xQc so much money.

Clancy would go on to say that he's supportive of the idea of streamers working on platforms that best suit their needs. He mentions one streamer wanting to do a wrestling match and going to YouTube in order to do that. "You should be able to explore and figure out what is the right platform for the right things," says Clancy. Basically, Clancy knows Twitch can't be the platform everyone wants, that multiple streaming platforms each with a unique purpose is what's best for streamers.

Considering the pressure Clancy is under to continue growing Twitch, his remarks are quite a surprise. This isn't just any streamer on Twitch, after all. This is xQc, who has been the top streamer on Twitch on and off for some time. Then again, being angry that xQc isn't exclusive to Twitch wouldn't be particularly productive. Twitch has long supported streamers who also have OnlyFans followings, too, after all.

Some Twitch viewers believed that the platform would take steps to prevent similar departures like xQc's from happening in the future. But Clancy's views appear to convey that no such changes will be made. Now Twitch streamers can feel more confident in exploring deals with other platforms, while knowing they will still have a home on Twitch, too. That's great news for streamers like xQc. Whether it's what's best for Twitch in the long run remains to be seen.
