While permanent bans of Twitch streamers tend to make headlines routinely, popular streamers getting indefinitely banned is a surprisingly rare occasion. That's why it's come as such a shock that Twitch's Adin Ross appears to have been indefinitely suspended from the platform. While Ross has had a controversial time on Twitch, undeniably, Ross himself has been an increasingly popular content creator. His ban has already been met with confusion and frustration, including from Ross himself. As is standard policy for Twitch when it issues a punishment to a streamer, the specific act that has led to Adin Ross' permanent ban has not been confirmed -- even to Ross himself. In a now-deleted message on Twitter, the streamer shared the email that he received from Twitch regarding his ban. Twitch's provided reasoning for banning Ross is listed under the umbrella of "Hateful Slurs or Symbols" which were shared live on stream or in a VOD.RELATED: Adin Ross Leaks How Much He is Making from Twitch Gambling Sponsorship Ross' comment on the subject of his ban is that he's "not sure" what he said or did. No further comment has been provided by Ross via his social media at this time. No public comment has been made by Twitch at this time, either, which is expected. Twitch streamers have the option of appealing their bans, but it isn't clear whether Ross will pursue an appeal or not. Even if he doesn't, Ross does have a YouTube channel where he can shift his stream to.

While Ross claims he's not aware of what led to the ban and Twitch won't publicly confirm anything, the Twitch community believes they know the reason. Allegedly, Adin Ross was talking on the phone with Twitch streamer YourRAGE when Ross used a homophobic slur to insult someone. YourRAGE later claimed that it wasn't Ross that he was speaking with and that someone else said the slur, though the audio recording of the incident appears to confirm that it's Ross.

As noted, Ross' has been a controversial figure on Twitch since he started streaming. Ross has been banned on Twitch multiple times prior. These bans include an instance where Ross' channel was banned due to another person saying a homophobic slur on his stream. This previous ban may have contributed to the decision to permanently ban Ross now.

Ross grew to popularity on Twitch in large part due to a friendship with LeBron James' son Bronny James, who he played NBA 2K20 with. He'd later start a streaming house dubbed Clout Gang 2.0 with FaZe Banks, RiceGum, and several other streamers. Aside from NBA 2K games, Ross is also known for playing Grand Theft Auto 5 on Twitch.
