  • Editor hints at a "certain project" announcement, raising hopes for series resumption.

Toyotaro just dropped a new illustration to celebrate Dragon Ball Super's 10th anniversary. The series has been on hiatus for months, but fans may finally get some great news in the next V-JUMP issue, scheduled to be released on July 19, 2025 (July 20 in Japan).

Dragon Ball Super went on hiatus in March 2024, following the announcement of the death of legendary mangaka and Dragon Ball creator Akira Toriyama. The series briefly returned in February 2025 with a special chapter, but no news has been announced since. Fans expected Shueisha to drop new information on Goku Day (May 9), but nothing related to Dragon Ball Super was revealed.

Dragon Ball Super: The Black Frieza Arc Must Include This Concept from Dragon Ball Daima

The Black Frieza arc is set to be one of the most memorable moments in Dragon Ball Super, but it should incorporate this concept introduced in Daima.

Dragon Ball Super 10th Anniversary Illustration

The latest Weekly Dragon Ball News video revealed more information on this month's V-JUMP issue, previewing a special illustration drawn by Toyotaro to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Dragon Ball Super. The illustration, which will be included as a poster, recreates Gohan's iconic Kamehameha at the end of the Cell Saga but features Ultra Instinct Goku and Beast Gohan.

The poster quickly drew attention from fans, who even wondered if that scene would be featured in the highly-anticipated Black Frieza Arc. While it's unlikely this illustration will be featured during the story, it is possible that Beast Gohan and Ultra Instinct Goku will join forces to defeat Frieza. V-JUMP will also feature a Dragon Ball Legends illustration with Ultra Instinct Goku and Super Saiyan Blue Vegeta, drawn by Toyotaro.

A "Certain Project" Is Coming

In addition to the illustrations, it was also revealed by editor Victory Asada that V-JUMP will reveal information about a "certain project" this month. It could be the announcement of the release date for Dragon Ball Super Chapter 205, or it could be something else related to Dragon Ball. While most fans were frustrated that the series will still be on hiatus during the 10th anniversary, they will surely be excited if the series finally resumes serialization. For now, we will have to wait until the magazine is out.

Information about a certain project will also be announced in this issue. You'll just have to read V-JUMP for yourself to find out the details.

Japan Expo Paris, one of the biggest anime/manga events in Europe, will host a panel with Toyotaro and Dragon Ball editor Kazuhiko Torishima at the beginning of July. This means that even if V-JUMP doesn't announce anything related to Dragon Ball Super this month, Toyotaro could still surprise fans at the event with new information on the series.

Dragon Ball Super is available to read on MANGA Plus in English and Spanish. Chapters are published simultaneously with the Japanese release.
