Final Destination is back after almost fifteen years, with Final Destination: Bloodlines dropping a new trailer to excite fans. Franchise lovers and those anxious for another gore-fest (or simply one last hurrah for Tony Todd) will find lots to look forward to in the franchise's next outing.

"Death doesn't like to be cheated," a cryptic William Bludworth said at a funeral in Final Destination 5. It's been fourteen years since that bone-chilling performance from late horror icon, Tony Todd. One of the few redeeming qualities of New Line's film series, Todd's Bludworth is a creepy connector between the living and the dead, helping victims understand their current predicaments in Final Destination's 1, 2, and 5. The films without Todd suffered from his absence, as the ones he's in benefitted from his next-level understanding of getting under one's skin in the most off-putting way. After fourteen uncertain years of waiting for another installment, Final Destination: Bloodlines promises to tie up the franchise with one last warning from Bludworth and another gruesome series of fatal accidents courtesy of death itself.

The Final Destination: Bloodlines Official Trailer Has Finally Dropped

Starring Kaitlyn Santa Juana as Stephanie Lewis, Teo Briones as Charlie Lewis, and Rya Kihlstedt as Darlene Lewis, Final Destination: Bloodlines is set to premiere in theaters on May 16, 2025. The trailer reveals a look at one of the series' signature kills, along with an explanation of death's issue with Final Destination: Bloodlines' central family. After experiencing premonitions about someone dying at their family barbecue, the main characters' paranoid grandmother explains she experienced similar premonitions as a youngster and, since then, has been waiting for death to return to her family. She subsequently gives Stephanie a book filled with notes on the family's connection to death, sending Stephanie on a journey from which she may not return.

Horror fans will be immediately hooked by the trailer's opening sequence. Elongated and grisly like many deaths in the previous five films, Bloodlines demonstrates itself as being thoughtful, unpredictable in its kills, and more intelligent than some of the series' weaker entries. While there is still too much uncovered to determine whether this film's central narrative is any more than a bare-bones B-movie like its worse-off predecessors, the trailer certainly promises an attempt at a thicker, more intricate, and introspective narrative than usual.

Then, for devotees, the best part: Tony Todd's return as William Bludworth, giving a fresh warning to viewers and characters alike. "Only by embracing death will it pass you by," a thinned-down Bludworth eerily instructs from elsewhere as Stephanie faces several near-death obstacles on the screen. With his presence, a carefully curated death sequence, and a sizable new cast of potential victims at play, Final Destination appears to be back for real this time. It also serves as Todd's last film role before his tragic passing. With almost two months before its release, Final Destination: Bloodlines has delivered much to obsess over.
