For most Tomb Raider fans, the best part of the game is exploring the forgotten tombs and temples in search of treasure. However, the home of Lara Croft herself has featured in many of the games in the series so far, and this location can be explored fully as it is often used as a tutorial level in the series.

5 Assault Course Fun

Tomb Raider 2 and Tomb Raider 3

Tomb Raider Assault Course

The assault course at the back of this mansion is hardly difficult to find. Plus, the player needs to complete this course in both Tomb Raider 2 and 3 as part of the tutorial, so the area is hardly a secret. However, there are lots of things that this outdoor climbing course brings with it that new players may find fun.

For starters, these carefully positioned blocks are placed in such a way that it keeps the player within the map's boundary. Fortunately, this does not stop the player from exploring the map vertically and climbing onto the roof of the mansion for a run around. Not much can be seen from this location, but the roof access can be used as an alternative method to reach the hidden treasure room. Plus, the butler who follows Lara around her home can often get stuck on this assault course in some funny ways.

Players who do not want to run around on the roof can access the hidden treasure room in a more traditional way. The secret route starts at the front of the assault course. There is a button that can be pushed next to the door to the maze. Players must press this and enter and take the route to the right to go through the maze.

Lara Croft has relied on plenty of close friends throughout her adventures, but these characters rise above the rest.

This route will lead to a hidden tunnel that can be dropped into from above. Jump into this bit of the map and pick up the flares. These will light up a path to a hidden enclosure that can be opened from the outside. Players will only have seventy-four seconds to make it through this part of the mansion, and there is a button to press on the other side. Then the player must run back to the maze and across the courtyard to access the now open door on the right side of the main hall. Inside here is a selection of treasures that Lara acquired during her career.

The swimming pool is a prominent and easy part of the mansion to find. Although this is something that players expect a mansion to have, there is more to this fixture than meets the eye.

After having a swim in the pool for a bit during the opening of Tomb Raider Legend, players will find a small lever that they must pull. After doing so, exit the pool and approach the two large statues. By using the grappling hook, players can move one of the spears to reveal a secret room. Inside this new room, there are some movable objects. Move them towards Lara, and one of the game's hidden artifacts will be revealed.

The racetrack is another part of the tutorial that players must complete in Tomb Raider 3. This challenge involves riding a quadbike and completing the circuit in an allotted amount of time. Players can reach this part of the level naturally by exploring the mansion and finding the key to this part of the map in Lara's bedroom. However, any player that wants to reach this trial early can use the corner glitch.

Lara Croft is one of the video game industry's toughest icons, but even she is far from perfect.

The corner glitch is something that has been used throughout Tomb Raider 3 by players to speed-run the game or to skip particularly difficult sections. Fortunately, this glitch is easy to activate and can be used as early in as the tutorial level.

All the player needs to do to activate this glitch is find a part of the map they want to access and ensure that there is a corner part of the wall on the other side they can access. In terms of the racetrack, this corner is easy to find as it runs along the same side of the wall as the locked gate. Run into the corner as much as possible, and Lara will be catapulted into the air. If the player points the camera directly, she will land on the other side of the wall with only a bit of health to spare. Then, the player can ride the quad bike to finish the time trial as normal.

1 Butler In The Freezer

Tomb Raider 3

Tomb Raider Butler Freezer

The butler who serves Lara in Croft Manor is an elderly chap who looks like he has served the family for one too many decades. However, his tired and hunched physique does not stop him from following Lara around her mansion in the tutorial for Tomb Raider 3. Such loyalty should be rewarded. Unfortunately, many players have found a way to get this old man to finally leave them alone.

The butler follows the player closely, but he is extremely slow. This means that he will eventually follow the player into the freezer in Lara's kitchen if they go in there. Once he is in this room, players can then quickly run out the door and close it behind them. Such an act will trap the butler as he cannot open the doors himself. There is no reward for doing this, but it is something many fans of the games have found fun over the years.
