Hardy made his debut as an alien symbiote in the 2018 movie Venom. He reprised the role in Venom: Let There Be Carnage (2023) and Venom: The Last Dance, which will hit theaters later this month. Hardy's portrayal of Venom has received a positive reception from fans and critics. Many were impressed with his performance as Eddie Brock and how he pulled off Venom's voice. He also successfully portrayed the conflicted personalities of shy journalist Eddie Brock and manipulative Venom. However, the actor just confirmed that the upcoming Venom film would be his last.

Sony's marvelous run on Venom might be coming to an end with the third installment of the film series, but that doesn't mean they're out of big guns.

Hardy shared a promo of Venom: The Last Dance on Instagram on October 1. In the caption, he added what awaited him as Venom after The Last Dance and it looked like it would be his final appearance as the symbiote because the movie series was only meant to be a trilogy. "Thankyou for a great time - and 7 years. I've had the best experience @Sony working with Venom - this is me and the big guy last outing going out with a Bang!!!" Hardy wrote. "Come see us off - last in the trilogy and done [red heart emoji] we have had such a great time Thankyou. [Sic]" Hardy sounded like he was bidding goodbye to Venom. Fans thanked Hardy for his amazing performance as Venom and many said they were excited to watch the film.

Meanwhile, some assumed that he would still appear in another film, probably Spider-Man 4, because Venom and the superhero have a lot of encounters in Marvel Comics. Venom is one of Spider-Man's nemesis, and fans look forward to seeing them on the big screen. A few even doubt Hardy's announcement and are still in denial about what seemed to be his exit from the Venom franchise. "Never take anything actors say as the truth lol. Marvel and Sony would never let them spoil if they reappear," one commented on X, formerly Twitter. Some suggested that Venom: The Last Dance could be his final solo movie, but he could still portray the same role in other films and appear as Venom in Spider-Man 4.

Hardy's announcement received mixed responses, with many fans expressing sadness over the news. They were so happy with his performance as Venom and wanted to see more of him on the big screen, opposite Tom Holland's Spider-Man. So, they were heartbroken upon learning that The Last Dance would be Hardy's last portrayal of Venom. However, some were not surprised by the announcement. Hardy had already sparked discussion on Reddit the moment he announced the official title of Venom 3. The title included the word "Final" and many took it as an indication that it would be his last solo Venom movie, but not his last appearance as the anti-hero.

This could probably be true; after all, Hardy's Venom is well-loved. Also, his storyline with Spider-Man hasn't been explored yet and it is something comic fans have been waiting for. Marvel and Sony have yet to satisfy fans by bringing Spidey and Venom together on one screen. Additionally, Hardy mentioned that his Venom films were meant to be a trilogy and they already did three movies, so they were basically done. But yes, he could possibly reprise the role in other films. Tom Holland's Spider-Man 4 has just been confirmed and it could be an excellent platform for Hardy's next appearance as Venom after he wraps up his three solo movies.

Venom: The Last Dance premieres on October 25, 2024.
