Disney announced on Wednesday that the upcoming second season of Tokyo Revengers; Tokyo Revengers: Christmas Showdown; will be available on the Disney+ platform when it finally arrives in January. The news came during Disney's Asia-Pacific content showcase, and is part of the expanded partnership formed between Japanese publisher Kodansha and Disney+, which involves the licensing of the anime adaptations of Kodansha-published manga works.

While a January broadcast date for the upcoming Tokyo Revengers sequel anime has been released, no specific airing date has been revealed as yet.

The upcoming Christmas Showdown arc will have a cast change, with Tatsuhisa Suzuki no longer playing the role of Ken "Draken" Ryūgūji. The replacement has not yet been revealed; however, additions to the Tokyo Revengers cast include Mikako Komatsu (Maki Zenin, JUJUTSU KAISEN) and Tomokazu Sugita (Gintoki Sakata, Gintama) in the roles of Yuzuha and Taiju Shiba respectively. The remaining members of the main cast are expected to return to voice their characters in the upcoming second season.

The Tokyo Revengers anime series is based on the manga by the same name created by Ken Wakui, originally serialized in Weekly Shōnen Magazine in 2017. Tokyo Revengers had its 30th and final volume compiled on November 17, a day after the end of its serialization. The author plans to have a new arc for the manga revealed sometime in November 2023, followed by a spin-off manga to serialize in the same magazine as the parent series.

The first season of Tokyo Revengers first aired in April 2021, running for 24 episodes, with Crunchyroll streaming it as it aired in Japan. A live-action film premiered in July 2021, soon becoming the #1 live-action film in Japan. A sequel to the Tokyo Revengers live-action film will be released in two parts in Spring and Summer 2023.

The Disney+ platform's foray into anime gained strength with the acquisition of the currently-airing BLEACH: Thousand-Year Blood War; which is also a sequel anime arc; as well as the popular supernatural mystery Summertime Rendering. Tokyo Revengers: Christmas Showdown is set to broadcast this January, forming part of the anticipated Winter 2023 programming season.
