The New York Times purchased a little indie puzzle game called Wordle earlier this year that tasks players to solve a daily five-letter word. The puzzles reset for all players at midnight local time, giving folks a chance to stretch out their brain muscles. The game is available to play via the New York Times Games site and is easily accessible with any internet browser, be it on a PC or smartphone.
How to Play Wordle
Upon opening the Wordle website, players will need to input a real five-letter English word and then press enter. The word tiles will change colors, showing how close players might be to the answer.
- If the tile turns gray, then that means the letter is not in the word.
- If a tile turns yellow, then the letter is in the word but it's not in the correct spot.
- And if a tile turns green, then the letter is in the correct spot.
- Players have six tries to narrow down the letters.
- Results can then be shared via social media without spoiling the Wordle answer for the day.
