Throne and Liberty's end-game activities including Taedal's Tower and Gate of Infinity, can be quite challenging, and the 14th-floor boss: Old Wizard's Eye, is a giant monstrous eyeball that will completely demolish players unaware of its power.
To prevent this from happening, we have devised a solid walkthrough that contains critical information on mechanics, boss abilities, and best strategies to beat down this formidable foe and progress further on Taedal's Tower Out of Sight Secret Dungeon. But first things first, let's take a look at the boss fight primary mechanics.
Throne And Liberty: How To Complete At The Lycans' Hall Moon Puzzle
The puzzle during 'At The Lycans' Hall' can be pretty tricky in Throne and Liberty. Here's how to solve it without breaking a sweat.
Taedal's Tower 14th Floor Boss In Throne And Liberty
The Old Wizard's Eye (Beholder for friends and family) is the typical Huge Eye monster that shoots laser beams and kills you instantly with its gaze. So, with that in mind, there are two separate mechanics players need to be aware of before facing it in Throne and Liberty Taedal's Tower. Let's take a look at them in detail:
- Jumping and Blocking: will be the primary two mechanics during the fight. Some attacks need to be blocked perfectly to avoid receiving damage, while others require the player to time their jumps at the correct moment to avoid receiving damage and keep fighting until the Eye is dead.
- Dodging the Death Gaze: this boss has a lethal Wrath Attack, cannot be blocked/parried, and needs to be dodged since its a one-hit-KO move. It will literally erase players from existence in a single move. It happens quite fast, so this is a battle of reflexes and endurance mostly.
- Getting away from AoE pools: These will be the major threat during the middle of the fight, especially when players are distracted. Throne and Liberty battles are unlike traditional static MMORPG combat, so keep moving and avoid dying.
Players should bring lots of consumables like High-Quality Recovery Crystals, that you can purchase from the Guild Coin Merchants , since it is probably they'll need the extra healing before the fight is over.
Every Dodge/Block Active skill has a "cooldown" of its own, so spamming it is not a possibility. Timing is essential to Block perfectly and mitigate all damage, so when facing enemies such as the Old Wizard's Eye. Players need to be extremely careful not to fail a parry. Otherwise, they will face a horrendous death.
The boss has some pretty annoying attacks and a sequence speed that will put some of the Souls-like bosses to shame. In fact, players might be able to hit one or two skillshots between each wave of attacks, and the rest of the fight is mostly positioning themselves away from AoE, dodging the Death Gaze, and jumping when the boss slams the floor. Now, let's see what this eyesore of an enemy can do during combat.
Old Wizard's Eye Moveset In Throne And Liberty
- Primary Attack Blast: The boss will be constantly attacking with its basic shots as if players were fighting against a Staff/Wand user. The Old Wizard's Eye shots barrages of magic energy that cannot be dodged, so players will be receiving damage constantly during the fight.
- Dark Energy Blast: The Old Wizard's Eye will launch a series of circle-shaped dark energy balls that will crash against the floor and produce an AoE damaging effect. The initial blast has to be dodged, and cannot be blocked.
- Corruption AoE: The lingering effect from the Dark Energy Blast, causes a percentage of the maximum HP per second in damage. Standing over it means a certain death, so players should avoid fighting over it at any cost. Like most lingering AoE effects, it has an affixed duration, so circling around the boss can do the trick to avoid the area and make time until it becomes available again.
- Death Laser: A direct Fury Attack that the boss will be using repeatedly during the fight. Blocking it perfectly is the only way to avoid receiving considerable damage, and since the boss is going to be spamming this ability throughout the fight, those who cannot block it will have it hard trying to beat this challenge.
- Body Slam: A Wrath Attack, that cannot be blocked or dodged. The boss repeatedly slams its body against the floor, causing a shockwave that covers the entire arena. Players need to jump at the right moment to avoid receiving damage. It can be tricky at first, but after a few attempts, players will get the hang of it.
- Death Gaze: After receiving 25 % of its total HP as damage, the boss will launch its Wrath Attack. Needless to say, avoid this at any cost: The Old Wizard's Eye will scream and start glowing, and everything standing before it in a 180º area will instantly die when it launches the attack. Players need to position themselves behind the boss to prevent receiving lethal damage.
Remember: Food Buffs are important for Boss Fights: Players can have three different active food buffs at the same time: Utility, Damage/Defense, and Miscellaneous. Players will easily identify them by reading the consumables description and by their characteristic icons. A good strategy is to eat three different types of food that complement each other and that have the same quality, so the duration of the buffs matches.
Best Strategy For The Old Wizard's Eye In Throne And Liberty
For Melee Players
Engage the boss in a circular pattern, never stop moving, and if possible, move clockwise to dodge the AoE Dark Energy Blast causes. When the boss starts aiming its Death Laser, make sure to stand still and block timely, to perfect parry and cause damage as well as stun the boss.
The Greatsword skill
DaVinci's Courage grants attack speed, damage mitigation, and healing, and the Sword Shield skill
Immortal Pride has great mitigation as well. For Sword/Shield and Greatsword players, having the Brutal Warrior Valkarg guardian can make a great difference, because it can accumulate up to 4000% of the damage dealt and deliver it back to the boss when perfectly parrying an attack.
For Daggers users, the skill
Shadow Strike is perfect for dodging Death Gaze and Dark Energy Blast and its annoying AoE. Consider bringing it as a complement to the
Block Blade parry/dodge skill.
Activate it and return all the hurt that the Eye caused for an easy win, but watch out for its Death Gaze and Body Slam attacks because they will be the boss finishing moves if it notices it took too much damage.
Throne And Liberty: Things To Do After Reaching Level 50
Players have several options to pursue after reaching level 50 in Throne and Liberty.
Some block skills might be less effective than others in terms of Damage Negation/Mitigation, so players need to be aware of this. Having a good Block skill is critical for this fight, and bringing out the wrong move could make things difficult for them. Also: make sure to have the Block skill leveled up, as some players prefer not to "waste Skill Growth Books" on them, and that's a mistake. Throne and Liberty heavily relies on the block/parry mechanic for its fights, so always have the block skills up to date with the rest of the build.
For Ranged Players
Longbow and Crossbow users should refrain from remaining static and use Charge attacks during this fight. The same can be said for Staff and Wand users. Instead, use instant cast abilities and keep moving counterclockwise to avoid the AoE and timely Dodge when the Boss aims its Death Laser.
Mitigation can be a problem for squishier characters, so we highly recommend Lady Knight Kamarshea Guardian, since it will grant a shield equal to 50% of their maximum mana pool, and provide a whopping 40% cooldown reduction. Shoot spells/skills and keep moving, and when the time comes, jump in the air to prevent the Body Slam attack from ruining the strategy.
If players get too far away from the Old Wizard's Eye, it will commence its Body Slam sequence and spam it until it catches them off guard. Then, use the Death Laser to destroy them, so keep fighting at a mid-distance and running around it to prevent this from happening.
The Staff's
Mystic Shield draws the shorter straw in this fight and needs to be perfectly timed when the boss shoots its Fury Attack, otherwise, it will be game over. In the case of the Longbow
Overtaker skill, something similar happens, causing the player to lose adequate distance and can cause severe harm to them if miscalculated.
