When tackling Throne and Liberty's end-game activities, players will come by the highest levels in the Secret Dungeon of Taedal's Tower, and among them lies the 13th-floor challenge: Lightning Jump Attacker, an annoying beast with a really bad temper. Dealing with it will require all the player's skill, coordination, and reflexes.
Throne and Liberty: Roaring Temple Dungeon Guide
Here's what players need to do to breeze through the Roaring Temple dungeon in Throne and Liberty.
This guide will detail what this boss is all about, outlining its skills, attacks, and mechanics. Most importantly, this guide will summarize a neat and polished strategy to help players beat Lightning Jump Attacker and advance to the next floor.
Taedal's Tower 13th Floor Boss In Throne And Liberty
The Lightning Jump Attacker is actually a huge chunk of rocks with arms and a really bad attitude. It is considerably resilient and has powerful Fury Attacks that need to be blocked at all costs if players want to survive enough to reach the mechanics phase of the combat. And yes, there are some puzzle mechanics as well. Here's a look at them:
- At the start of the encounter, the boss will not be present. Instead, three Rune Stones will be aligned in the middle of the room. Players need to navigate between them, connecting a line of energy until reaching the furthest side of the arena, where the last stone is.
- Going too far will break the lines, and players will have to "connect the dots" again.
- During the fight, the boss will jump in the air and fall down, creating an arena-wide attack. Players need to connect the stones successfully before that happens, or they will die.
- Things get complicated as the combat progresses, and players will need to dodge the lightning strikes while connecting the stones. If they're hit with lightning during the puzzle, they'll need to start over.
- The mechanic will repeat various times during combat, so pay attention to when the boss jumps into the air and Dash Morph to connect the stones.
As players progress further into Taedal's Tower (and even more so in the Infinity Gate), they will likely notice a huge difficulty spike. These challenges are meant for players to learn (Soulslike-style) how to parry, block, dodge, and negate damage from boss attacks.
Healing in Throne and Liberty is not as good as it is in other games, so players need to know how to mitigate damage or die miserably. So, these challenges are here to help them learn and practice damage negation.
Lightning Jump Attacker Moveset In Throne And Liberty
The 13th-floor boss has a lot of HP but also a lot of Endurance, so every stun the player can land by blocking correctly or using skills will have a reduced impact. The best approach is to make use of those precious moments when the boss is stunned to deal as much damage as possible. Then, pay attention to his attacks to block timely. Here's a breakdown of all his attacks and how to counter them:
- Leap Attack: The golem will jump forward and strike the ground below the player, dealing considerable damage. Needs to be timely blocked or dodged. It will cause severe damage if not blocked and stun the players briefly.
- Lightning Stomp: The boss stomps on the ground, causing a circular lightning damage area. This can only be blocked. If players dodge, they'll take moderate damage.
- Lightning Punch: This attack will be performed sequentially and can be dodged or blocked. The golem uses this frequently, so keep an eye out for chances to block and stun.
- Summon Lightning: The boss summons a lightning storm barrage that is considered a Wrath Attack, and thus cannot be blocked. If players are hit, they'll take massive damage and be stunned for 1.5-2 seconds. Players can dodge it by stepping into the areas where lightning doesn't strike. Pay attention to this pattern, since during the Stone Puzzle Mechanic phase, the boss will summon this attack to prevent players from completing the puzzle on time.
- Wide Area Blast: This is the anti-ranged mechanic the boss has. If players take too much distance from the boss, it will smash the ground using a Wrath Attack that cannot be dodged or Parried. Players can, though, jump at the moment the wave hits the middle of the arena to mitigate some damage. The best strategy ranged players can take here is to circle around the boss and use dodge to prevent taking damage.
- High Jump Wipe Attack (Stone Puzzle): This is a Wrath Attack, and it cannot be dodged or avoided. It will immediately kill any squishy ranged DPS (wizards, archers, crossbow users) while dealing critical damage to Tanks and Melee DPS. At the start of this attack, the boss jumps into the air and disappears, and a huge transparent circle with a black reticle appears aiming at the arena. The circle will close fast, and lightning will start falling from the sky. At the end, the boss will slam the ground with all his might and wipe the player out. The only way to prevent this is to run to the glowing stone, grab the link, and connect the next stone until reaching the last stone to receive a shield. This shield will block the damage from the boss. Be careful with the Summon Lightning attack from the boss, as it will prevent players from solving the puzzle and force them to start over.
Players can have three Food Buffs active at all times: Utility, Damage/Defense, and Miscellaneous. Utility has an Atom symbol, Damage and Defense Swords and Armor symbols respectively, and Miscellaneous is a pile of coins. If the character is fully buffed, they will have an extra advantage against tough bosses like the Lightning Jump Attacker.
Throne And Liberty: Specter's Abyss Dungeon Guide
Specter's Abyss is the first dungeon players will encounter in Throne and Liberty. Here's how to beat every boss and reach the end safely.
To Block/Dodge: Pay attention to the purple indicator, and block timely to partially negate damage. To Perfect Block/Parry and negate all damage, players need to hit the Block Skill at the exact moment that the enemy's purple circle touches the reticle.
Be warned, however, as some attacks have a faster reticle, and hitting the "sweet spot" can be quite challenging for those. These are called Fury Attacks, and they can be parried.
There are other attacks that are called Wrath Attacks, which do not have the usual reticle. Those need to be Dodged by pressing the block button and a directional key, or in some cases, the player needs to jump at the right moment.
Best Strategy For The Lightning Jump Attacker In Throne And Liberty
For Melee Players
Start the fight by taking a chance before the boss starts his attack sequence and deal as much damage as possible. Closing the gap with charge attacks is a good choice, since this will save precious seconds, and the same strategy can be repeated after the boss does his High Jump Wipe Attack.
Heavy Attacks and timely parries will do the trick. As long as players pay attention to the Wrath attacks that cannot be parried, they'll be fine.
Don't forget to morph and dash to connect the dots when the boss disappears and to dodge lightning strikes. We recommend equipping the Vampire Hunter Ezekiel Guardian to use in case of extreme need, to regain health quickly. The Greatsword skill DaVinci's Courage will also come in handy, since it has a Perk that allows for some damage mitigation and recovery.
In the case of Sword Shield users, their Shield Survival Technique will be critical for the fight, as well as Immortal Pride. Daggers users would want to max out their dodge chances by equipping Phantom Smokescreen, Umbral Spirit, and Shadow Strike.
For Ranged Players
If players are using Staff and Wand, they should know that the boss is immune to most Weaken effects, except Burning. Curse doesn't work either, so focus on dealing heavy damage and staying close to the boss, dodging when the circle is near closing.
Making the perfect dodge is not easy, but as the Block abilities from range weapon users are not so reliable, they should use their mobility to their advantage. Remember that straying too far from the boss will cause it to begin its Wide Area Blast.
Staff users should start the fight with Judgment Lightning and, ideally, use a Burning-focused build. Crossbow users should focus on using Quick Fire to cause damage and Nimble Leap to dodge whenever they have a chance. Longbow users should use their Overtaker/Agile Shot block skill to mitigate the damage of the Lightning Jump Attacker strikes. They should also run around shooting as much as possible without going too far, as the threat of the Wide Area Blast will still be a problem for them.
Keep circling around the boss until his health depletes, and don't forget about the High Jump Wipe Attack, running to connect the stones before the boss slams the ground.
