Thor: Love And Thunder Teaser Trailer Has Arrived

The first teaser trailer for Thor: Love and Thunder has finally been released by Marvel Studios, and it will have fans doing a double-take. Not only does it feature Chris Hemsworth reprising his role as the God of Thunder, but also brings back his new group of friends, the Guardians of the Galaxy, and Natalie Portman in a completely new and powerful avatar, The Mighty Thor.

Slated for a summer 2022 release, Thor: Love and Thunder has been creating a lot of buzz among the Marvel Cinematic Universe fans. Requests for a trailer have been making the rounds on social media for months, and it seems like their pleas have finally been heard. Not only did Marvel offer the surprise teaser trailer earlier today, but also released the first official poster for the upcoming film. It features Hemsworth’s fan-favorite character, and his mighty Mjölnir.

The trailer begins with Thor reminiscing over his past, and how his “hands were used for battle.” He is now ready to put his hammer to rest, and live a life of peace. But, that would mean figuring out what he does next. Set to the classic song “Sweet Child O' Mine,” by Guns N' Roses, the rest of the trailer is a fun collage of Hemsworth’s Thor trying to fit in into this new role that he has chosen, considering his “super hero-ing days are over.”

The highlight of the Thor: Love and Thunder teaser trailer comes right at the end, when Portman wields Thor’s Mjölnir without any trouble. She truly seems worthy, leaving even Thor looking slightly surprised. The official synopsis of the film reveals that Thor will enlist the help of Portman’s Jane Foster, Tessa Thompson’s Valkyrie, and Taika Waititi’s Korg when he comes out of retirement for the sake of his fellow gods who are at risk of extinction at the hands of Christian Bale’s Gorr the God Butcher.

Fans have been waiting to see Bale’s first look, but he is missing in action in the first teaser trailer. Several keen-eyed fans have, however, spotted Bale on the sets of the film. Additionally, leaked images of upcoming Marvel Legends figures offered fans a look at what his character might look like. Apart from Bale, Russell Crowe will also make an appearance in the film. It was revealed last year that he will be portraying the role of Zeus.

Thor: Love and Thunder premieres in theaters on July 8, 2022.
