Given the challenging nature of objectives in The Talos Principle 2’s DLC, Road to Elysium, it’s no surprise that the DLC also presents the player with some hard-to-obtain achievements and trophies. One of the most difficult achievements to unlock in this expansion is called “Showing Off,” which requires the player to solve two Secret Star puzzles without using static rods. This guide explains what it means to avoid static rods, and provides a step-by-step guide on how to get the Showing Off achievement.
The Talos Principle 2 DLC: All QR Code Locations (Ancestry Achievement)
Finding all QR Codes in the first chapter of The Talos Principle 2’s DLC rewards you with the Ancestry achievement; here’s a guide on that.
How to Get the Showing Off Achievement/Trophy
To get the "Showing Off" achievement in Road to Elysium, you need to solve both of the Pandora Monument puzzles in Chapter 2 without using static rods. Static rods are laser connections between a Receiver and a Generator of the same color. Non-static rods are converted, inverted, or transformed laser beams, such as those created using the RGB Converter.
You must solve all the puzzles in Rooms #4 and #8 of the Red Island, as well as Rooms #5 and #6 of the Green Island, before attempting to solve the Pandora Puzzles without static rods.
How to Solve Pandora Puzzles without Static Rods
There are two Pandora Puzzles in The Isle of Blessed area, and both can be solved without static rods if you use RGB Converters.
Pandora Puzzle #1: The Riddle of the Citadel
To solve the first Pandora Puzzle using converted rods, follow these steps:
- First, enter the Riddle of the Citadel Puzzle Room (Room #8 on the Red Island).
- Grab the Connector, place it right in front of the moving platform in the middle, and link it to the Red Generator.
- Take the Inverter. It’s on top of the platform, and you can access it using the Fan.
- Create a rod between the Inverter, the Connector, and the Blue Receiver on top of the platform. This should lower the platform so you can jump on it.
- While on the platform, take the Connector so that the platform moves back up.
- When you reach the top, connect the Connector to the Green Receiver on the Pandora Monument. Create another link between the Connector and the Red RGB Converter in the back. (It’s behind the trees, in the nearby Puzzle Room #4.)
- Head over to Puzzle Room #4, The Euclidian Palette.
- Grab one of the Connectors and establish a link between the Red Generator and the RGB Converter on the ceiling.
- Finally, stand in front of the Green Generator to cut off its rod for five to ten seconds. This should solve the Pandora Puzzle without static rods.
Pandora Puzzle #2 (Green Island Lost Puzzle)
Follow these steps to solve the Pandora Puzzle on the Green Island without static rods:
- Head over to Puzzle Room #6 on the Green Island, The Binary Paradox.
- Grab a Connector and link it to the Green Receiver on the Pandora Monument. You need to place this Connector right in front of the room’s entrance.
- Go to Puzzle Room #5, the Theodorian Knot.
- Jam the Fan in the back using the Jammer.
- Grab the Hexahedron and place it over the Pressure Plate in the main hall, the one that’s closest to the Blue Generator.
- Grab a Connector, connect it to the Blue Generator, and place it over the Hexahedron.
- Take the RGB Converter and link it to the Red Generator and the Connector you just activated.
- Finally, aim the RGB Converter at the Connector you activated in Puzzle Room #6 in the first step. (You will see this Connector through the gap in the wall.)
