The Red Island in the second chapter of The Talos Principle 2’s DLC features eight challenging puzzles. These puzzles must be solved to activate the first Lighthouse on the island. Below is a step-by-step guide to help you navigate and solve these riddles of Barzai, with visual hints provided for each puzzle.

Fortunately, most puzzles adhere to the same logic as those in the main campaign. However, in case you are a beginner player in The Talos Principle 2, here’s a quick glossary to help you understand the game’s terminology:

  • RGB Converter: This device transforms two laser colors, producing a Blue Laser from Red and Green, Green from Red and Blue, and Red from Green and Blue.
  • Gravshifter: This tool generates Gravity Beams on Magnetic Walls, allowing the movement of objects across the map.
  • Driller: Use this device to create holes in specific walls.
  • Jammer: An electromagnetic device that disables Gates, Fans, and some other puzzle elements.
  • Activator: When linked to an energy source, it unlocks gates.
  • Clone: An alternate body you can control.
  • Generator: An RGB (Red, Green, or Blue) device serving as the laser beam source.
  • Receiver: Activated by a same-color laser beam, this device comes in red, green, or blue variants.
  • Connector: Use it to manipulate or link laser beams with other devices; it does not emit beams independently.
  • Accumulator: Unlike a Connector, it can generate laser beams once charged by a Generator.
  • Pressure Plate: Found on the ground, it activates puzzle mechanics when pressed.
  • Hexahedron: A cube-shaped object used to block laser beams, access elevated areas, or trigger Pressure Plates.

The Talos Principle 2 Review

The Talos Principle 2 brings more of what made the first game a success, with a bit more polish and expanded puzzle mechanics.

Red-1: The Missing Element

  • Grab the Activator, connect it to the Blue Generator, and place it next to the gate in front of the Pressure Plate.
  • Stand on the Pressure Plate for a few seconds.
  • Retrieve the Hexahedron (cube) from the other side of the unlocked gate.
  • Place the cube over the Fan behind the Pressure Plate.
  • Grab the Activator without disconnecting it from the Blue Generator.
  • Place the Activator on the cube and stand on the Pressure Plate for a few seconds. This will unlock the gate above the Fan and drop a Connector.
  • Connect the Connector to the Blue Generator and place it over the Pressure Plate.
  • Finally, grab the Activator, place it next to the gate blocking the portal, and link it to the Connector over the Pressure Plate.

Red-2: The Laser Circus

  • Place the Hexahedron on the Pressure Plate near the entrance.
  • Retrieve the RGB Converter from the unlocked room.
  • Move the Hexahedron to the Pressure Plate in front of the Red Generator.
  • Connect the RGB Converter from the Green Receiver to the Blue and Red Generators.
  • Retrieve the second RGB Converter from the unlocked room.
  • Connect the second RGB Converter to the Red Receiver using a link from the first RGB Converter and the Blue Generator.
  • Retrieve the third RGB Converter from the unlocked room.
  • Connect the third RGB Converter to the first and second RGB Converters, then link it to the Blue Receiver in front of the locked terminal.

Red-3: The Bilateral Challenge

  • Teleport into your Clone and stand on the Pressure Plate to unlock the gate.
  • Teleport back to your body, step onto the active Fan, and fly to push down the Hexahedron and Connector.
  • Take the Connector and link it to the Red Generator.
  • Place the Connector on the Red Pressure Plate where your Clone was standing.
  • Move your Clone near the Fan by switching between your body and the Clone. (You can only control your Clone if you can see it.)
  • While controlling your Clone, grab the second Connector and step onto the Fan.
  • Teleport back to your body and place the Hexahedron on the Fan.
  • Teleport to your Clone and link the Red Receiver to the Connector while floating in the air.
  • Finally, place the Connector on the Hexahedron and teleport back to your body to complete the puzzle.

Red-4: The Euclidian Palette

  • Take the first Connector and link it to the Green Generator and the wall-mounted RGB Converter on the right side of the room.
  • Grab the Gravshifter and create a Gravity Beam on the wall to the left of the RGB Converter.
  • Once the RGB Converter is moved to the other side, use the Gravshifter again to create a Gravity Beam on the wall behind the Green Generator.
  • Grab the second Connector and link it to the two Blue Receivers, the Blue Generator, and the RGB Converter.
  • Disconnect the first Connector and link it to the Red Receiver and the RGB Converter on the wall.
  • Use the Gravshifter to move the RGB Converter back to its original position on the right side of the room.
  • This will unlock the Progress Wheel and complete the fourth puzzle of the second chapter in The Talos Principle 2’s DLC.

Red-5: The Perpendicular Procedure

  • Jump onto the magnetic wall on the left to retrieve the Connector.
  • Carry the Connector to the other magnetic wall where the Blue Receiver is visible.
  • Connect the Connector to the Blue Generator and Blue Receiver, placing it under the leftmost platform, left of the Blue Receiver.
  • Pass through the unlocked gate and retrieve the Driller hanging from the ceiling.
  • Use the Driller to create a hole in the wall behind the Connector.
  • Take the Hexahedron and push it through the hole onto the Red Pressure Plate.
  • Grab the Driller and place it on the second Pressure Plate next to the Hexahedron, ensuring it faces the same wall to maintain the hole behind the Hexahedron.
  • Finally, retrieve the Connector from the other side of the hole and connect it to the Red Generator and Red Receiver located just above the Progress Wheel.

Red-6: The Celestial Beacon

  • Jam the first gate using the Jammer. (Place the Jammer next to the metal fences left of the gate.)
  • Take the Inverter and create a line from the Blue Generator to the Red Receiver.
  • Retrieve the Connector from the unlocked area.
  • Swap the Connector with the Hexahedron.
  • Place the Hexahedron near the metal fences, stand on it, and take the Jammer.
  • Use the Jammer to unlock the same gate from this side of the room.
  • Take the Inverter and connect it from the Blue Generator to the Connector behind the Red Receiver on the wall. After linking the Inverter, place it in the main room near the puzzle entrance, ensuring its laser beams can pass through the metal fences to the right of the first gate.
  • Swap the Hexahedron with the Connector.
  • Create a connection between the Red Receiver, the Red Connector on the wall, and the Connector in your hand.
  • Grab the Jammer and use it to deactivate the gate controlled by the Red Receiver from the other side.
  • Now, bring the Connector with you to the final area of the puzzle.
  • Rotate the Jammer to deactivate the gate at the end of the puzzle room.
  • Link the Connector to the Red Connector on the wall and the Red Receiver near the Progress Wheel.
  • Finally, use the Jammer to deactivate the last gate and complete the puzzle.

Red-7: The Misalignment Syndrome

  • Take the Driller and make a hole in the wall of the room with a Pressure Plate and a Connector. (Place the Driller next to the purple gate.)
  • Grab the Connector in this room and position it over the Pressure Plate.
  • Remove the Fan from the middle of the room and toss it into the previous room through the hole in the wall.
  • Replace the Fan with the Connector.
  • Push the Connector out of the room through the same hole in the wall.
  • Use the Driller to create a hole in the wall of the adjacent room where the second Driller and Hexahedron are located.
  • Link the Green Generator and the Green Receiver in this room using the Connector.
  • Push the Connector into the room through the hole to unlock the gate.
  • Retrieve the Driller and Cube from this room, then bring the Connector back through the hole in the wall.
  • Use the second Driller to make a hole in the same wall as in the first step.
  • Push the other Driller into this room through the newly created hole.
  • Replace the Fan on the Pressure Plate with the Driller. Shoot the Fan out of the room through the hole.
  • Reinstall the Fan into its original position.
  • Place the Hexahedron on the Fan.
  • Create a line between the Green Generator and the Green Receiver above the Progress Wheel using the Connector.
  • Position the Connector over the Hexahedron.
  • Retrieve the Driller outside the locked room. Place it on the Pressure Plate near the Fan, aiming at the top of the wall where you made the first hole.
  • Finally, with the other Driller from the locked room, create a hole in the wall obstructing the Green Laser beam, aiming through the initial hole you made.

Red-8: The Riddle of the Citadel

  • Enter the room with an active Fan and use its stream to fly to the other side.
  • Retrieve the Inverter and jump down.
  • Connect the Inverter to the Blue Generator near the Pressure Plate and the Red Receiver near the Fan.
  • Retrieve the Connector and link it to the other Red Receiver across the room from the Fan.
  • Grab the Inverter and connect it from the Blue Generator to the Connector you just placed.
  • Stand on the Pressure Plate for a few seconds to drop a Hexahedron from one of the platforms.
  • Grab the Inverter, connect it to the Red Generator, and position it in front of the platform directly across from the Red Generator.
  • Take the Hexahedron and place it next to the Inverter.
  • Use the Connector to create a line from the Inverter to the Blue Receiver on top of the tall platform in the middle of the room.
  • This action lowers the platform like an elevator. Place the Hexahedron on the platform and, while standing on it, grab the Inverter to activate the platform again.
  • Once the elevator reaches the top, grab the Inverter, create a line between the Red Generator and the Blue Receiver across from it, and place the Inverter on the Hexahedron.
  • Jump down to interact with the Progress Wheel and complete the puzzle.
